Chapter 5: Valentine's Surprise

Hunter held the bouquet of roses and box of chocolate behind his back. He smiled lightly as he knocked on the door. He heard someone run down the stairs and stop at the door, breathing heavy. Then the doorknob turned and Skyler stood there smiling. "Hey Hunter!"

"Hey." He smiled. He pulled the presents out from behind his back and handed them to the smiling girl. "Happy Valentine's Day." 

Her face lit up and she grabbed the roses and chocolate from him. "Oh wow! Thank you." She beamed happily as she opened the door wider for him to come in. "I have stuff for Evan and Nathaniel as well." A female's voice rang out from behind Hunter. Hunter's younger sister Valery stepped out grinning. "Oh hey Val!" Skyler said grinning as she led the two kids upstairs. 

They both ducked down as they walked into the bedroom, their height being to large for the doorway. They were both very tall, over 6 feet. "Hey guys, Hunter and Valery are here." Skyler said as she swooned over her gifts. Evan jumped up quickly and ran to the closet, throwing a shirt on quickly before landing back on the bed. Valery handed them each a box of chocolates. "Happy Valentine's Day!" 

Nathaniel grinned and hugged her gently. "Thank you Valery. Happy Valentine's Day." 

Evan hugged her as well and bit his lip, pulling the small red teddy bear out from behind his back and handing it to her. "Happy Valentine's Day." 

Valery grinned brightly and kissed his cheek gently. Evan grinned and sat back down on the bed holding his cheek. 

"So Nate. You wanna talk things out?" Hunter sat down by Nathaniel, putting his arm around his shoulders. 

"I don't know. I'm used to bottling things up."

"You know what happens if you bottle stuff up for too long?"

"No what?"

"It explodes."

"That's what she said." Skyler laughed.

Hunter shot her a disapproving look and she covered her mouth quickly trying to not laugh. 

"Yeah I know it does. But. I can't help it. It's a habit." Nathaniel sighed.

"I know. I'm here if you need me though alright?" Hunter replied. 

"Alright."

The teens sat around in Nathaniel's room joking about school and other things for a few hours before his dad came upstairs. 

"Hey Nate can we-" He began before seeing the other kids in the room. "Oh hey Hunter and Valery. Didn't know you guys would be here." 

"Yeah. Figured we'd pay our favorite friend a visit." Valery said flashing a movie star grin. Hunter smiled.

"Yeah of course haha. Nate just come talk to me later alright?" His dad looked at him. 

"You got it dad." 

His father walked out of the room again. 

"What do you think that was about?" Evan asked as he leaned back against the wall on the bed. "I have no idea." Nathaniel replied.

Hunter sat back in his chair, running his hand through his hair. "So. You guys want to play a game or something?" He said.

"What about truth or dare?" Valery asked, smirking.

"That sounds fun. I'm down." 

"Me too!"

"Sure I guesso."

Valery grinned as he looked at Nathaniel. "Nate. Truth or dare."

"Uh dare..?"

Valery's lips turned up into a smirk as she stared the younger boy down. "I dare you to kiss Hunter."

Nathaniel's face lit up bright red and he tried to cover it with his hair. "Wh-what? Why? You don't have a d-different dare?"

Valery grinned. "Oh c'mon. It is Valentines Day after all. Love is in the air ya know." She booped his nose gently. "You too scared?"

Nathaniel bit his lip gently and looked over at Hunter, who sat with a smirk on his face. "Yeah Nate, ya scared?" he grinned.

Nathaniel blushed and glared at him. "O-Of course not. I just wanted to see if she had something better than that. That's too easy." He tried to fake confidence, but Hunter could see right through it. "Prove it then." Hunter smirked and sat up, his confidence peaking.

Nathaniel bit his lip on the inside and stood slowly, and walked over to Hunter. He leaned down and grabbed the sides of Hunter's face, pressing his lips against the older boy's. Hunter put his arms around Nathaniel's neck and kissed him back passionately, taking Nathaniel by surprise. He felt Hunter gently bite his bottom lip before pulling away. 

Nathaniel covered his face, blushing bright red and made his way back to the bed.

Hunter smirked. "Who knew Nathaniel was such a good kisser?" He grinned at the younger boy.

Nathaniel giggled. "I'm  so done with you. Evan truth or dare?" 

Evan grinned. "After that dare, I'm gonna say truth."

"Okay. Tell everyone in here who your crush is."

Evan's eyes widened and he looked at Nathaniel in surprise. "Wh-What? That's so mean."

"I just had to kiss Hunter! Tell your truth." Nathaniel laughed. 

Evan stuttered and stared at his lap. "Uh.. okay. My crush is Valery." he said quietly, his cheeks flushing pink. 

Valery looked up surprised, and smiled sweetly. "Really?"

Evan nodded and blushed a little redder. "Y-yeah."

Valery grinned and put her hand on Evan's, whispering in his ear, "Good."

He flushed bright red and covered his face, giggling.
