The blinds from the window in Nathaniel's room, cast a long shadow across the floor. He rolled over in bed, pulling the blanket over his head. "So..tired." He mumbled as he tried to fall back asleep. A rustling sound from outside woke him up completely as he grumbled and rolled out of bed. He walked to the window and pulled the curtain and blinds aside. "Shidge why do you insist on sitting outside on the le-" He was cut off as he realized it wasn't Shidge sitting on the ledge of his window. It was a large stone gargoyle. He raised an eyebrow as he pulled his window opened and lifted the statue into his room. He gently sat it on the floor and cocked his head to the side in confusion. "Skyler? Did you put this outside my window?"

As he asked that question, Skyler and Evan walked into his room and sat on his bed. "No. Gargoyles freak me out." She shrugged. Evan looked at Nathaniel slightly concerned. "Why was that outside your window?"

Nathaniel looked at him dumbfounded. "You think I would be asking that if I knew the answer already?"

Evan shrugged. "You tend to be a little slow sometimes."

Nathaniel wiped some dirt off of the top of it. "Should I put it back outside? Or..." He looked for any sign of where it could have came from. "I don't know. Maybe you should keep it. Maybe it's like an omen or something."

"An omen for what exactly?"

"Who knows."

He ran his fingers through his hair and shrugged. "Alright. I guess it's staying. I gotta go get ready." He walked to the bathroom and hopped in the shower.

By the time he got out, his dad had already made breakfast. Nathaniel sat down at the table, grabbing his fork and licking his lips, as he stared at the huge mound of pancakes in front of him. As he dug into his plate, he turned towards his dad. "Did you leave a gargoyle on my window sill?"

His dad stared at him questioningly. "No. Why would I do that?"

"I don't know. Forget I asked."

His dad raised an eyebrow but didn't push the subject any further.

Nathaniel's phone buzzed, alerting him that his ride was outside.

"Gotta head to school. See you later dad!"

Nathaniel bolted out the front door and hopped into Hunter's waiting car.

Nathaniel threw his book bag onto the couch and he sighed dramatically, as he and Hunter trudged up the steps towards his room. A quiet snoring was coming from behind Nathaniel's door. He raised an eyebrow as he gently turned the handle and peeked into the room through the crack. A girl with short, light-grey hair laid across his bed. The two sharp horns sprouting from her head were the first things he noticed. Second was how tall and strangely muscular she was. Even though she was scrawny for a teenage girl, the muscles that defined her arms, torso, and legs, were shocking.

He cleared his throat awkwardly. "Um.. I think you're in the wrong house ma'am." He shook her gently.

She shot awake quickly and stood up, her 6'9 height towering over the two boys.

Nathaniel's eyes widened. "You look just like that gargoyle! The one that was on my windowsill!"

The girl looked at him. "Yes. My name is Ollie Flint. I was sent here as a servant for you." She bowed in front of him. "I am an Omen God, here at your service. My responsibility is to help you in any way that I can."

Nathaniel rubbed the back of his neck. "S-servant? Help me? What do you mean by that?" Ollie looked down at him as she stood back to her normal height. "Anything. But I do believe I was sent only to help you battle." She smiled slightly making Nathaniel flush red. "Th-that's not what I m-meant!"

Hunter smirked. "Sure it isn't kiddo." Nathaniel shot him a death glare.

Ollie sat on the edge of the bed. "Sorry for falling asleep in your bed, sir. I was waiting." Nathaniel smiled. "It's uh.. okay."

Ollie nodded. "Well.. this has been riveting. But I must go. If you need me, just pray for an omen." She grinned and walked to the windowsill, jumping out of the two-story tall room.

Nathaniel ran to the window to see where she went, but she had disappeared.

"Well..that was strange." Hunter said, chuckling. "You're telling me." Nathaniel shut his window and sighed.
