He says it so calmly like if its a normal thing to be in the hospital. There's a certain smell that puts me off the edge. A place where life is literally a constant struggle. Its pointless to go there, but this action might harm possible relations between us that has just been established recently. I need to at least show AJ that I have been attempting
I arrived at the hospital slightly earlier than expected, I had to tip the cabbie. I rushed to the info counter, and found out Megan was at ward 134C. The 13th floor, 4th ward at the end which is known as the 'C' block. The lift smelt of sanitizers. I hope she's alright. My one possible friend. Not to be skeptical, but the 13th floor, and according to superstition and fiction, the number 13 is unlucky. The lift door opened and I paced to ward 134C. I peeped through the small window to see Megan in an oxygen mask, for one, she looks better without it and I need to find out what got her here. I slowly pushed the door open and walked in as silently as I could. Ensuring that the only sound audible was the sound of the machine keeping track of her heart rate. There was chair in the corner of the room and a window shut with blinds closed.
Time check: 5pm.
And in this room it seems like 10 pm, all the sunlight was just non existent. Megan looks different in the standard hospital uniform. She has her closed, hair center parted and looks drained, eye bags are still there, hopefully she can sleep peacefully here. The oxygen mask is oversized though, and this is the first time I've seen her frame, she has got skinny arms, and continuous cut marks on both her wrists. Another suicide attempt maybe? I move closer to look at the cuts , it was not just cuts, her arms were filled with scratches, this might explain the long tee shirts and pull overs.
I heard someone walking in and turned to see a nurse.
" excuse me sir, you're not supposed to be here". She said with a gentle voice.
"I was just leaving". I said with a whisper. I got my things and I spoke to the nurse outside to find out what happened to Megan.
"she fell while walking down the stairs, and has a minor concussion. " she says genuinely.
"and what about the marks on her hand?, any idea where they came from? "
" you know teens these days, they're too eager to give up on life. " she said shaking her head and touching her short hair.
I got more information about Megan's stay at the hospital. I might have time to visit her tomorrow, but for now, a shower and a nap is a must.
After the refreshing showers, I sat on my bed, with my back against the headboard and laptop on my legs.
" where were you after school today? I thought we could grab lunch, I looked at the usual places, but I still couldn't find you" said AJ walking through the door.
" you didn't tell me you wanted to meet me." I said in defence.
" so I need to book an appointment before I meet you now? " he said with a light pinch of sarcasm in his tone.
" I was at the hospital to-"
" did you break a bone again? " he cuts me off and asks.
This concept of care is unfamiliar to me.
I spent the next 30 mins explaining to him everything that happened over the past two days.
" are you going to see her tomorrow?" he asks with his eyes opening slightly larger than usual. It his way of saying, I should see her tomorrow.
" I don't think so" I said looking at my screen.
" whyyyy? " he says with a look of shock on his face.
