"Alright, Kadi, 'ow is zhis going to work?" France asked once the others taking part in the conference call quieted down. "Explain to me 'ow we--" He made a giant circle with his finger, indicating a lot of people (or maybe the world), "--would all 'elp you search a billion dimensions."

"It's actually not that hard to imagine," Kadi began, using her hands as she talked. "I did the calculations, and I narrowed down the amount of dimensions we have to search. I can also set the doorways to drop you off very close to where Alice would be."

"How would you do that?" Canada inquired softly.

"DNA tracking, it's really useful for this sort of thing. The doorways can locate someone in the dimension and connect to a place close by. It's a little hard to explain, you'll have to experience it for yourself," Kadi answered with a little shrug at the end.

"So, who's in?"

There weren't many replies at that. Everyone was looking thoughtful, trying to decide if the risk was worth it all.

And yet, no one was surprised when Canada raised his hand first. "I-I'm in."

His older brother jumped in a second later, determined to look like the hero. Yes, he cared for his sister, but the idea of going dimension-jumping was making even the daredevil country uncharacteristically nervous.

"Count the hero in! With me on the team, there's no way we won't find her, dudes!" America's well-known grin took up most of his portion of Kadi's screen.

That was all it took to break the ice. One by one or in pairs, nations agreed to help search. The sight, the sound, of everyone agreeing to help brought a genuine smile to her tired face.

"Okay, then I'll come to get you guys in turn tomorrow around eight in the morning."

"Vait, zhere's zhe issue of time zones," Germany pointed out.

"Not for me," was Kadi's sly reply.

"Gilbird! Mein awesome birdy!" Prussia exclaimed happily as his favorite yellow bird barreled into his owner's chest and twittered up a storm. Kate was right beside him almost protectively while Carlea wandered throughout the house.

"Prussia, I'm really not liking this at all," Kate admitted in a hushed tone.

"Not liking Carlea here?" Prussia clarified, and Kate nodded with a "No duh" expression. "I know, I feel zhe same vay. She's annoying."

"You aren't going to let her chase you, are you?" she asked, failing at keeping her worry out of her voice.

"Liebe, she means nozhing to me!" Prussia assured her while setting Gilbird on top of his white-haired head. "Ve've been dating each ozher for years now, zhere's no reason I'm going to let her change mein mind about how I feel." (Love)

Hearing that made Kate relax noticeably. She leaned her head against his shoulder and smiled even wider when Prussia pecked the side of her head.

And Carlea leaned her back against the wall that hid her from their view. A fearful, hurt look had plastered itself to her face and didn't seem to be going away anytime soon.

'This is stupid, he's not Gil. Not my Gil, anyway' she tried to tell herself as she looked down at the simple yet elegant engagement ring present on her left ring finger. It sparkled under the overhead lights and casted a miniature rainbow on her skin.

'My Gil doesn't have an accent. He teaches world history at a college. He has a little brother named Ludwig, and Gil loves me. He loves me. What am I doing here?' She saddened immensely, staring at the ground in front of her toes that were pointed toward each other. 'I clearly don't belong here.'
