You were dating Carter when he said he had to break up with you and you wanted to find out why.

I've been dating Carter for about 5 months now and our relationship has been really good. At least I though it was going okay.

I was sitting in the bedroom that I shared with Sara when there was a knock. I looked up from the book I was reading and saw it was Carter. No, me and Carter don't share a room because Sara asked if I'd like to share with her first; I agreed.
"Hey Carter," I said, unsure of why he came to see me.
"Y/n, we need to talk." Carter replied in a serious tone.
"Um... Okay?" I said but it kind of came out like a question.
"Look, don't take this personally but I think we should break up." He said.
"Wait... What?" I asked. "How can I not take this personally, Carter?"
"It's not you, y/n. I'm immortal and I reincarnate and I've only got one true love and it's not you." Carter said. "I'm only doing what's right."
"Who is your true love then, Carter?" I asked.
"It doesn't matter." He said. "You don't need to know."
"Carter! Who is it!?" I asked.
"Kendra. We're supposed to be together and I honestly do love her." He replied.
"No, Carter. I love you and we're sole mates! I thought you love me too!" I said.
"I do love you but I'm only doing what I have to do. This is fate and it's been decided already. I'm sorry but we're through." He responded and pushed past me before leaving.
I walked away about 5 minutes after he left and walked to Mick's room. I stopped in my tracks when I saw Kendra and Carter. I hid around the corner so they couldn't see me but I could still hear them.
"I'm glad I'm with you." Carter said.
"Me too, I think fate is one of the best things that has happened." Kendra said.
"I love you Kendra, you're my first love and true love. You're the only person I will truly love." Carter said. I stood around the corner so I could see them in full view.
"I love you too, Carter." Kendra replied and they kissed. Why would they do that if Carter didn't cheat on me? Just then, Carter saw me. Kendra said something like 'I've got to go' and left.
"Y/n... I- I-" He began but I cut him off.
"No Carter, you've said enough. You cheated on me with Kendra. That's all the explaining you had to do. I never want to be anything like Kendra's place holder again. You were right, she is your true love and the only person you truly love. Bye, Carter." I said and stormed away. I shut myself in my room and started crying. I knew this relationship would've ended in heartbreak.
