Chapter Seventeen

Maia snapped out of her daydream and got up to her feet and felt something behind her. She turned around and saw Lacey. She grasped,"Lacey, what are you doing here?", she questioned. Lacey walked towards her girlfriend and she put her hand on the side of Maia's face. She didn't speak, her eyes turned black and her veins turned green. "Lacey, What's is happening to you?", she cried out. Lacey voice sounded echoey, "Maia I have always been like this, I was human, I didn't know about you until you mentioned your father, I was turned like you were but it happened just after you left, when we kissed. Then I was dragged from the street into a corner and injected with this substance and then they let me go. I didn't realise my abilities until a few days after, I couldn't tell you, just in case you would think I'm a spy or something", she explained. "Alright, I understand and it's okay, the question is do you still love me?", Maia asked.

"I will always love you, but I can't live like this anymore, I hope you understand", she went on, "I know the only thing that can kill me is your father's dagger and I will be pure again and all of my demon blood will burn out, Maia I'm asking you to murder me, I'm asking you to give me the dagger", she explained. Maia was in shock, "If this is what you want then I understand, I will help you because I know how you feel", she cried out. Maia took her girlfriend's hand and they both started to cry on each other's shoulders. Maia grabbed her father's dagger and put in her bag and they both walked to Lacey's house together for the last time.

Lacey opened the door and she walked over two dead bodies of her parents, Maia jumped at the sight of them. "They found me drinking the blood of our pet hamster and they saw my demon form, I killed them knowing they couldn't keep the secret and also I didn't want them to deal with the grief of me killing myself", she explained. Maia was so calm about  it, she saw her whole family murdered and Lacey was going through the same thing but she couldn't handle it. "I'm not saying it's okay but I understand", Maia said. Maia pulled the dagger out and handed it over to Lacey. "Maia, you have always been stronger than me and hope you find someone that will love as much as I did", she cried out, "I will miss you and I will always love you". Maia cried out, "I will miss you and I love you", she stepped back away from her.

Both of the girls started to turn into demons and Lacey held the dagger towards her heart and drove it in my body, she cried out in pain and collapsed on the floor. Maia ran towards her and held her fragile, lifeless body and saw the demon blood faded and her eyes turning that were once pure darkness to green colour. Then she went limp in her arms, as she drew her finale breath.

Maia took the blade out her body, it glowed green and she shoved it in her bag. Then she shut her girlfriend's eyes and left the house and ran home. She shut the door behind her once she got into the apartment and ran into her shower.

She collapsed in the shower and saw her girlfriend's blood washing away drown the drain. Maia just keep saying to herself that she is in a better place and she is free, the best she can do is survive so the deaths means something. Maia jumped out of the shower and put her new clothes on and blow dried her hair.

Maia saw Sebastian's reflection in her mirror, she grabbed the dagger and pointed it at him but he want there. She was felt like she was going crazy, she probably was. Maia put the dagger back under her pillow, then she kept thinking to herself that she has to make sure that no more of her friends will ever be hurt with her own burden of who her family is.

Jonathan walked through the apartment door and Maia walked out of her bedroom and jumped on her sofa grabbing the TV remote before her brother did. Jonathan grabbed his sister's wrist that was holding the remote until she let go of it. "Jonathan, that's cheating", she called out. Her brother just laughed, "I'm using my resources and my resources is my strength", her brother explained. Maia laughed out loud and got up to put the blood in the fridge, she took one and threw a packet in her bedroom. Her brother managed to get 25 packets of blood to last them for the rest of this week and also next week.

"So what have you been doing?", Jonathan asked. "Nothing", Maia lied. "Are you sure?", Jonathan was getting worried. "I'm fine, Jonathan", she yelled. Jonathan switched on the television and put the news channel on. "Breaking News, a family of three found murdered in Brooklyn inside there own house", "The family was called 'The Thomas's, with the names of the names of the victims called; Micheal Thomas, a father, Abigail Thomas a mother and finally their daughter, Lacey Thomas", the news reporter said. Maia grabbed the remote and switched off the television and tried to sleep on the sofa. "Maia, What have you done?", Jonathan roared. "She asked me to do it, she was turned by father and she couldn't live anymore, she also killed her parents because they saw her eating her pet hamster in her bedroom", Maia said bluntly. "Maia...", Jonathan whispered. "Don't, there is nothing to say", Maia whispers out. Maia was leaning on her brother's shoulder and grabbed then fell in his lap and she tried to sleep, if that was possible.
