*FLASHBACK*

Maia woke up in her bed, she realised what her father did to her. She could hear her family downstairs, fighting. She got up to her feet and saw Matthew frightened on the top the stairs, he was holding his teddy bear. Jonathan wasn't in the house, he was at work. Maia put Matthew in her bedroom, and put a YouTube video on with her headphones on her brother's head, so he couldn't hear the fight.

Maia raced downstairs and was standing between both of her parents. "That's enough, the both of you", she screamed. "I don't want to hear what is happening between the both of you because I don't care, you are scaring Matthew", she explained. "Just stop, I can't deal with this any longer, maybe you shouldn't be together if you don't love each other", she cried out. Her father grabbed her wrist and whispered, "You don't get to say what happens here, I do". "I am not afraid, I remember what you did to me and I will never forget it", she whispered back to her father.

Her father let go of her wrist and she pulled herself away from him. Maia walked upstairs into her bedroom and her mother went inside the kitchen and her father stormed outside. Maia heard the car drive off away from them.

"Matthew it's okay", she said to her little brother. Her brother ran to her and hugged her tightly. She could feel her shoulder getting wet from his tears. "I won't let anyone hurt you", Maia whispered to her brother. Maia started to cough, Maia let go of her brother and ran to the bathroom. She felt really sick, she started to taste sick rising up her body and she was sick in the toilet.

Matthew came running towards his sister and saw her in a ill state. "Maia what's wrong?", her brother whispered. "I'm just unwell, tell mother that I am ill and go to your room, I don't you catch anything from me", she said out of breath. "Mummy, Maia is ill", her brother called out while running down the staircase. Maia was hanging over the toilet, it's what her mother used to do, if she got drunk after too much of work. She hated when people were drinking, she hated the taste and smell of it.

Her mother walked into the room and was rubbing her back to help her finish being sick. She got up from he knees and washed her face and dried it will a towel. "Mum, how will am I?", she asked. "Very just go into bed and wait for father or brother to get home, they will take care of you", her mother said. Maia rushed to her bedroom and jumped into her bed, her mother walked out of the room. She heard the door from downstairs open and heard her father's and brother's voices coming closer up the stairs.

Maia turned her body around, she couldn't face them. She felt her brother's hand brush on her face, she shivered and her brother pulled his sister towards him. "Jonathan..", she cried out softy, she was inches away from him, she felt his breath flow over her, his breath was cold and smelt like blood.

She squeezed her eyes shut and was whimpering, "Please don't hurt me, Jonathan, I'm your sister". "I'm try to help you, how can you not see that?", her brother questioned his sister. "If you want to help me, then why are you hurting me?", she choked. She felt a sharp pain on the back of her neck and she cried out and she felt tears burn down her eyes. It felt good, she felt like all of her pain was being lifted both mentally and physically.

Her brother let go of his sister and whispered, "How does that feel, little sister?". "Amazing", she breathed. "Remember what we have said, do not say a word to anyone else, otherwise you will feel pain that you have never felt before". Maia gave a nod to her father and her brother. Both of them left the room leaving Maia to recover.

She couldn't understand why they were being 'nice' to her, they were trying hurt her before, she couldn't figure it out. Matthew came into the room coughing as much as she was but he wasn't about to be sick or anything. If there was anything she had learnt from her father, it was that 'dangerous event, start out small'. Maia remembered that for everything, it was what kept her from becoming corrupt, in a way.

Her mother came rushing into the bedroom, "I think there is a strange bug going round, first you then Matthew", her mother was addressing to Maia. She just nodded and breathed, "Just keep Matt away from me, I think it's getting worse, otherwise he can't go to his sleepover next week".

Maisie picked up her son and carried him into his own bedroom and Maia could hear him coughing, roughly away from him. Maia sighed and put herself back into bed, but she wasn't tired. Her mother came back into the room, she looked destroyed, as she had done or seen something wrong. "Mother, what are you not telling me?", she whispered at her.

"Maia, you are old enough to but I didn't want to burden you, it's just I don't love your father as I did before and...", she broke off. "...I have been seeing someone else, you can't tell anyone, not even Jonathan, I will end it with him but I trying to forget I ever said 'yes' to him", her tears poisoning her words. "Mother, I'm not saying what you have done is right, but I know you can fix it, it will be okay on the end", Maia said softy. She wiped the ears from her mother's face and Maisie walked back down the stairs. Maia was trying to sleep, but she worried about her mother and Matthew.
