Chapter Twenty-Three

Maia was pulled closer towards her brother, she cried out in pain. "No, Sebastian get off me, you are hurting Mena", she cried out. She bit down hard, on Sebastian's hand and escaped the room with her daughter. She locked the door and rushed downstairs, she saw her brother, him and her father were fighting.

She saw her brother and he shouted, "Get to the car". Maia rushed outside towards the car, she saw her old school back in the car. She empty her bag and put Mena with her head and the top half of her body outside. She whimpered. "Hey, everything is going to be okay", she whispered to her. She saw Sebastian coming outside of the house, she started to run to the edge of the forest.

She was a little slow, but she saw that Sebastian was injured. Once she reached the end of the forest she was trapped between the wards. "No, no, please", she cried out. Sebastian holding her by her wrist, she cried out. "You shouldn't of done this", he roared. She heard growling and snarling in the distance. She saw her brother with a knife to his father's throat. "You will open the barrier and let my sister go and the baby", he roared.

Sebastian released Maia and she walked over to Jonathan. The barrier was shattered and Jonathan let father go. Her father walked over to Sebastian. The barrier was falling down again. Maia rushed through but it closed between Maia and Jonathan. Maia was banging on the barrier. "Jonathan, what the hell did you do?, Maia cried out. "Maia just run, run away, start a new life, go back to the house and I have left you something's to start a new life", he breathed. "No, I just found you again, I am not leaving you", she screamed. "Take the baby and run to the nearest hospital, go now", he cried out. "Jonathan, I will take care of her for you, for us", she whispered. "You will always be my brother", she screamed out. "As for you, you will always be my sister", he whispered.

"Jonathan, beh....", she didn't finish, it was too late, Sebastian had already plunged a knife into his back and collapsed onto the floor, she could his shallow breathing as he died. Maia screamed out, "No...". She saw her brother and father smile at her, she walked backwards. Maia rushed onto the road and saw cars race past. She saw a police car drive to side of the road. He rushed out of car and walked towards her. "Where have you been?", he said. "My brother, he's dead...", she whispered. "Who's baby is that?", he asked. "Mine, she's mine, I had her when I was sixteen", she whispered. "I've have need kidnapped by my father and my other brother for over two years and my brother, he...he, he's the father", she whispered. "Jesus Christ", he said. He told Maia to go into the car, after ten minutes and other police officers came. Tow officers came into the car and drove Maia and Mena to the police station.

Once they were at the station they were both taken to another room. Another man came into the room. "We need to take your daughter, she might need hospital treatment", he said. "What, I have to go with, please what if my father is still here, he will take her away from me", she cried out. "Please Miss, I understand what you are going through", he started. "Don't give me that bullshit, you have no idea what I have been through...", she screamed, "When I was fourteen, I saw my mother an baby brother murdered in front of me, I was beaten, torched and raped by my father and my brother, then only two years ago I gave birth to my daughter and the father was my brother, then the only person I could trust was killed right in front of me, and I ran because he told me to". Everyone who was in the room or around it was stunned to silence. Maia picked up Mena and stood up, "So don't you fucking dare say,'I know what you are going through, because you don't'." She finished.

"Alright, fine we will bring hospital treatment over here, so she is in the same building as you, however we need you to talk to us, to help find your father and your brother", he said. Maia nodded and gave Mena to the nurse, she said "I will take good care of her". Maia was taken into another room. Once she was in the other room, they asked questions, she couldn't answer some of them but she soon found out that Jonathan was confirmed to be dead. She was offered a place to stay but she wanted a new identity and accommodation for her and her child. They agreed to her terms and she left the station with her child and an officer to her new apartment.

*TEN YEARS LATER*

Maia had changed her name to Marcy Roberts. Maia first got her wife Lilly to drop their daughter to school. Then she was on her way to work to a school. Maia rushed into the building with her folders and started to set up her class work. All of her students rushed in the class. "Hello students, hope you had a great holiday, my name is ''Mrs Roberts', I will be your new English teacher", she said softly.

After work she traveled home she saw her wife and daughter. "How's Mena, Lilly?", she asked. "She is round her friend's house; Laura, it was her birthday recently", Lilly said. "That's fine, so how's was your day at work?", she asked. "It was eventful but being a part-time nurse is", Lilly laughed. "I know, that's how I met you", she giggled. Marcy kissed Lilly on the lips. "There was something for you today, it's on the counter", Lilly said. Marcy saw a box in the counter and opened it, she saw something inside and it made her shiver. She found an heart inside a box and she picked it up, she felt really hungry and she saw a note rolled up inside one of the heart tubes. It was drenched in blood and the note read, 'You can't run from your own blood, Little Sister'. She cried out and she whispered, "Sebastian". Her hands was covered in blood and she stepped backwards, in fear.

She realised that her Brother was still alive, but she wasn't sure that her father was, but she knew one thing, that she wasn't finished and she wasn't alone.
