Chapter One

Maia was pacing up and down her bedroom looking for her phone, she had lost it, again. Of course, her brother will never give her a new one. "Jonathan...", she yelled, throwing her pillows around the room. "...have you seen my....", she didn't finish her sentence, her brother did. "...phone?", he said while holding my phone with the messages app up, with all of her texts to Lacey, her girlfriend.

"I wa...was going to tell you, about her, it's just how was I supposed to tell you..." Maia was muttering and whispering. "Why didn't you tell me?" His voice was low was his arms were folded. "How was I supposed to know how you would react?" She said, her voice was loud and frustrated.

Jonathan threw up his hands "I am not MAD, I'm happy for you, actually". Maia's facial expression changed, her mouth dropped open. "Oh...." She said sounding very surprised. "...okay, it's just...", she didn't finish her sentence. "just what?", her brother questioned. Her mouth opened, she was lost for words, almost. "It's nothing, never mind..." She said, her voice was unsure. "Jonathan, I'm going on a date with her tonight, it's our one year anniversary, so I won't be back till late" she explained. "Where are you going?" He asked, his voice was cool and firm. "Just to the restaurant down the road" Maia breathed.

"All right, I will see you when you get home, don't be back late..." He asked, "...you know, just in case". "What do you mean 'just in case'?" Maia was questioning her brother, she knew what he was talking about, she replied: "It have been a year, Jonathan, he hasn't done anything to me or you, I just don't know...". "Maia you don't believe me," he said. "Funny, you didn't believe me last year, when he FUCKING raped me", Maia was yelling at her brother. "Hey, I believed you in the end" her brother was yelling back at her. They were acting like children, Maia is still a young girl and she still needs her brother, they need each other.

Maia spoke under her breath, "It took you long enough". "Say that again" her brother was very mad at his sister, with her attitude. "I don't have to listen to you, you are not my dad" she yelled. She realised what she said, "Oh fuck, we are acting like little children, what's wrong with us?". "Nothing, it's has been a tough year and a bit for us" he breathed. Jonathan walked towards his sister and gave her a hug, of course, she hugged him back and Jonathan ruffled her short hair. She giggled and walked out the door, she realised she had left her keys on the table, she knocked on the door and Jonathan was standing in front of her with her keys in his hand, dangling them in front of her, showing her how forgetful she was. She snatched the keys from his hand and smiled and walked off, Jonathan had close the door behind him.

Maia ran down the stairs and out the door and saw Lacey outside, waiting for her. They both kissed each other for second and Lacey said: "You know what day it is today?". "Liked I would forget, I have a surprise for you tonight" Maia was teasing her girlfriend. "Tell me" Lacey was begging. "What's the point of telling you, it wouldn't be a surprise now would it", Maia said still teasing. "Fine, you win", Lacey finally gave in. Maia grabbed Lacey's hand and they both walked to school together.

After around ten minutes they found themselves outside the building, Lacey kissed Maia again goodbye because she had different lessons today, on different sides of the building. "Don't forget" she yelled. Maia replied "Never". William jumped in front of Maia, she screamed. "What is wrong with you? you are such as douchebag" Maia yelled while punching William in the shoulder.

"Ow, that hurt," he said. "Good", Maia joked. "We only have a few more days left of school, so what do you want to do tonight?" William asked while walking inside the building. Maia turned red and chased after William. "Will, wait..." She raised her voice. William turned to face her, "I can't do tonight, it's my one year anniversary with Lacey", she was a little said. "No worries, catch you later," he said while walking off to catch up with his Football teammates.
