Okay, so you know I read a lot of fanfics here on Wattpad and I'm not usually one to fuss over a word but because I'm bored I'm going to rant about this.
The word definitely. A lot of people spell it "defiantly" and it just isn't right.
Defiantly- in a manner that shows open resistance or bold disobedience.
Definitely- without doubt (used for emphasis); in a definite manner; clearly.
They are two different words with two different meanings. So that is what people are using it for
"Do you love me?"
Wrong answer: defiantly
Right answer: definitely
As shown above, defiantly means to disobey or resist openly, that us something that you don't want to say in response because it could be taken the wrong way or confuse the other person. And yes, I know when they say defiantly they mean definitely because of event before AND after this.
I see this WAY too often and if this is how you spell it in some other English country I would love to know.
And I'm staying home all day and i feel EXTREMELY guilty because of it because my friend hates it when I'm not there
