~Kayla's POV~
Dylan and I were walking back to my room after the disastrous dinner when I stopped. He took his arm off my shoulder as I stood in front of him.
"You know what Dylan. . . We should find them and apologize for what happened at dinner. I don't know, I just feel bad about the whole thing." I admitted. I've never gotten into a fight with Kal. Sure, I wasn't the one talking, but it was Dylan and Dylan's my mate and I love him, so it feels as if it was me fighting with her.
"Fine. Do you know where they could be? Because if you haven't noticed, your house is huge." Dylan said. I rolled my eyes at him.
"It isn't that big, Dyl. It's just. . . Bigger than most. It can't be bigger than the pack house and the Alpha's house. It also can't be big enough to get lost because I've never gotten lost in here, and neither have Alice or Kal or Kaleb. So. Anyway, I think they are either in Kal's room, or they are still in the hallway they left to. Or, they're on their way to Kal's room." I said. Kal and Alice always like hanging in her room, and I guess with Jamie and Kaleb, all the more reason to be in her room instead of the hall where anyone can overhear anything you say.
"Okay, fine, lead the way, Kay," Dylan said, grabbing onto my hand, smiling. I smiled too and practically dragged him to the other side of the house where the hall they should be in is at, running. As we got closer to it, I stopped and caught my breath then slowly quietly walked around the corner. But not before I heard them.
"When do you plan on telling Kayla?" I overheard Kaleb ask seriously.
"I'm not sure. You and I both know how she takes homosexuality, let alone it for mates. I just don't think she'd support us or whatever." I overheard Kalevala. Someone sighed. My mouth opened and Dylan grabbed my hand.
"You know I'll always be there, right? No matter what?" Kaleb said.
"Me too, I'll always be there and I'll always ship you two. Aaaaaand I'll always ship you and whoever your mate ends up being, Kaleb." Alice said.
"I wish it could just stay like this forever. . . Only with your guys' future mates. . ." Kalevala said. They all sighed. I looked at Dylan and he was also listening intently. I frowned at him and nodded, signaling I was about to go. He nodded as well, telling me he'd follow and support me no matter what'll happen. I took a deep breath and stepped around the corner. I looked at them all before saying something. On one couch, Kalevala had her arms wrapped around Jamie's torso and Jamie's right arm was over Kalevala's shoulders. Kaleb and Alice were in front of them on another couch. The second I swallowed Alice looked at me. Kalevala got off Jamie and they both looked at me, then Kaleb looked at me. Kalevala and Alice were wide-eyed.
"Kayla. . ." Kalevala breathed out as soon as she was sitting up and her arms back from Jamie, barely audible. I shook my head. It was true. Jamie and Kalevala were mates. We told each other everything.
"How long until you were going to tell me. . ." I whispered, feeling tears start in my eyes. I felt as from behind me Dylan grabbed my hands from behind, pressing his chest against my back in a failed attempt to get me to calm. Kalevala opened her mouth then closed it again. "How. . . Long. . ." I whispered. She swallowed.
"I-... I don't know. . ." Then she looked at the ground. I ever so slightly scoffed and I turned around and ran, hearing Dylan behind me. I don't want to look at any of them right now. Just when I thought we were being friends again since I met Dylan, it was all destroyed. Figures.
~Kalevala's POV~
I sat there, shocked at what had just happened. Kayla... How much had she heard? How much had she seen? How long was she there? I always meant to tell her about Jamie, maybe not right away, but I planned to. I knew I couldn't too soon because of this. Her reaction. I took a deep breath and wiped my eyes from tears I knew weren't there but felt they would come soon. Kayla hated me now. I knew it. Jamie turned to me as I went to wipe my eyes and she sighed sadly at me and wrapped her arms around me. I buried my face into the crook of her neck, getting a headache from the tears that wouldn't come.
