Chapter 10: Normal Day

After lunch all the first years went off to explore the castle grounds to explore it a little bit before having flying lessons. Barry, Alec, Ginny, Corey, Alice and Adriana all stayed in the castle until Barry realized they were going to be late for the final lesson of the day.

They then all rushed outside out the castle for their flying lesson.

After the first day of term, Barry got quite used to life at Zarcurus. It was a warm day about three weeks after term had started. Barry and his friends Alec, Ginny, Corey, Alice and Adriana were sitting out by the lake behind the school. A lot of students were actually out by the lake right now. It usually rained, so everyone was taking advantage of the warmness while it was around.

All Barry felt like doing was just go swimming in the lake, like half the people hanging out around the lake. He ignored his urge to go swimming in the lake by piking up a conversation with Corey.

“So your parents are Auror's?” Barry asked as Ginny, Alice and Adriana all stood. Over the three weeks he had known them, Barry became great friends Corey, Alice and Adriana. Barry raised one of his eyebrows at them.

“We're going back to the castle,” Adriana said.

“We'll come back up to the castle later,” Alec said.

Ginny, Alice and Adriana all said bye and walked back up to the castle.

“So what were you saying Barry?” Corey asked.

Barry had to think for a minute as he started after the girls leave. “Oh I asked about your parents. They're Auror's right?”

“Yea they are, both of them,” Core answered.

Barry, Alec and Corey were looking out to the lake and could see the sun hit down on the crystal blue water. From behind them, they all heard a chuckle and snapped their heads around. Barry rolled his eyes as he saw Eric Midler, and his three other friends. Barry had finally learned the name of two big ones, Calvert and Gecks.

Calvert had broad shoulders, large feet, small dull eyes, long gorilla arms, and short hair that went down to his forehead. Gecks, is large and very fat, with a thick neck. He has gorilla-like arms and a flat nose, and wears a pudding bowl-style haircut.

The third person was a female. Patricia Corbett, as Barry and his group of friends knew her. She was a hard-faced Elgento student. She had long black hair, fair skin, and had a pug face. She was mean to anyone who wasn’t in her House.

“What do you want Midler?” Barry asked him.

“Just listening to your pathetic little friend here talk about his parents,” he answered.

“And what's so pathetic about his parents?” Barry asked, getting to his feet quickly. Corey did the same as him.

“His parents aren't nearly as good as your parents are,” Midler said. “And nobody could care less about them.”

Barry's moth dropped open in shock, socked that Midler would say something like that. Barry was about to do something about it when he noticed Corey trying to charge towards him. He and Alec both grabbed the back of Corey's shirt and restrained him.

“His parents are much greater then yours,” Barry said. “What is it that your parents do?” he asked getting a stab at Midler. Midler's face turned red, either from embarrassment or anger Barry wasn’t quite sure.

“How dare you talk about my parents like that,”Midler said as he took out his wand. With one hand restraining Corey, both Barry and Alec took out their wands.

“So how will this end?” a voice said as someone came walking up.

“Bloody hell,” Alec murmured to Barry and Corey as Midler put away wand quickly. Both Barry and Alec released Corey and just stood there.

“Should I ask what is going on here?” Ivy asked as he looked from Barry to Alec to Corey to Midler.

“They ambushed us Professor,” Midler said.

“No we didn't you-” Alec started to say before Ivy cut him off.

“Put your wands away,” he snapped at Barry and Alec. “And that will ten points from each of you from your House points.”

“But he's lying,” Barry said.

“Mr. Walter do you want to make it a detention as well?” Ivy asked him, a smile coming upon his lips.

“There will be no need for that,” another voice said. Moors came walking up with his staff in his hands.

“Now I saw everything that went on here,” he said. “And I heard you took away thirty points from them. I don’t think that was necessary. It was your students that came and started this mess.” he said as he looked at Midler. “So I am giving back the thirty points you took from them. And I will take ten points away from each of your students. I do say I hope you have better control over them.” he said.

“Yes well, I think they should all go back up into the castle,” Ivy said, looking frustrated.

Without saying or doing anything else Barry, Alec and Corey walked back up to the the castle and found Ginny, Alice and Adriana and told them the whole story.

“I cant believe he said that!” Adriana exclaimed.

“I cant believe he tried to take points away from us,” Ginny said.

“I'm glad Professor Moors gave them back to us,” Alice said in her dreamy voice.

“I can't believe I didn’t hit him,” Alec said. “One curse would have done it.”

“Yea well so much for a normal day,” Barry said as he got up and walked to the dormitory.
