Chapter 16: The Happy
Christmas
As the days wet on Barry slowly started to get over his parents death. He was really wanting to to get to see their graves, if there were any without bodies. He was able to put off a good aurora while anyone was around, but he still depressed on the inside. It was Christmas Day when Barry woke up happy.
He threw a pillow at Alec you fell off his bed and looked around the in confusion. “What the bloody hell was that for?”
“Merry Christmas to you to,” Barry said as he jumped out of bed. For once since he found out his parents died he was really happy. A smile broke out on Alec's face and Barry and Alec raced out of the room and downstairs to open presents.
When they rushed in the living room, Barry noticed Tonks, Romulus, Amy, Mr. and Mrs. Walter, Jeremy and Bill talking in low whispers.
“Do you really think it's going to start up again?” Barry heard Mrs. Walter whisper before noticing Barry and Alec. They all looked up and got to their feet.
“Don't mind us,” Romulus said as Ginny, Sam and Tim came into the living room. “Go on and open your presents.” Barry, Alex, Ginny, Sam and Tim all took his advice and dove into the presents.
“It looks like you guys have some to,” Ginny said as she noticed untouched presents under the tree. Barry remembered decorating it a few days ago, it had been real fun for him.
After everyone finished opening their presents they cleaned up the living room and put away all their new stuff. Mrs. Walter had made hand-knitted Walter jumper and fudge. Everyone else had given everyone little things like candy and little miniature broomsticks that were flying around the living room.
When the mess was all cleared up everyone sat in the living room except for Romulus and Tonks who felt like they were intruding on the family moment. “We should really get to our parents now, but thanks again for having us.” before anyone could protest they were gone.
Everyone else seemed to be having a good time. Tonks hair, which had been mousy brown since the kids had gotten out for Christmas break, was a bright bubblegum pink colour. Mrs. Walter went into the kitchen to make everyone hot chocolate while everyone remained by the fireplace. As she was in the process of making it three owls flew into the house and landed in front of Barry.
He looked confused as he untied the three letters from the three different owls legs. The owls flew away once the letters were removed from their legs.
“Who are they from?” Mr. Walter asked as Barry unrolled the first roll of parchment.
“This ones from Corey,” Barry said.
“This ones from Alice,” Alec said as he unrolled the second roll of parchment.
“And this ones from Adriana,” Ginny said as she unrolled the third roll of parchment.
Alec and Ginny handed them back to Barry and he read each of them.
“What do they say?” Alec asked.
“They're asking me if its true about my parents,” Barry said as he set the letters down. Barry looked at Mr. Walter. “How many people know about their deaths?” he asked.
“Just some Ministry of Magic workers and their families. But the Ministry is trying to not let it get out right now,” he said. “Doesn't want to alarm the Wizardry world.” he said. The look on his face said that he shouldn't have said that.
“Alarm them of what?” Barry asked sceptically.
“Here's the hot chocolate,” Mrs. Walter said, hurrying into the room. Barry felt she had done that to avoid the question he had just asked.
Barry accepted his cup of hot chocolate and sipped it. He wanted to ask his question again, but decided otherwise. He honestly didn’t care enough right now. But he did ask another question in place of the other question.
“Will they ever come out about this?” he asked. “Because I don’t really think its something that could be hid for very long.”
“Barry I'm sorry but I don’t think I can answer that question,” Mr. Walter. “I don't know what's going through their minds right now, and I certainly don't know what they plan to do about it either.”
Barry, instead of replying to that, looked around at the people that loved him. Even though this should have been the worst Christmas ever for Barry, it was actually the best he's ever had in his own opinion.
