Chapter 13: The Story

The attention that Barry's parents got while at the castle the next day was surprising. Either everyone was talking to them or about them and Barry didn't know why either. He never understood why he and his parents got so much attention.

Barry asked a few of the people who seemed to idolize his parents but they looked at him like he was crazy and walked away.

“This is driving me bonkers,” Barry said as he sat across from Corey at one of the desks in the school library.

“What is?” Corey asked as he looked up from him books.

“Yea what's driving you mad?” Alec asked.

“Why everyone idolizes my parents so much,” Barry said. He noticed Adriana and Alice look at him the same way the other people had when he said it.

“What do you mean?” Corey asked. “Don't you know?”

“Know what?” Barry asked looking at him.

“I thought you would know,” Corey said. “Seeing as they're your parents.”

“Can you just tell us?” Ginny said.

“Well everyone idolizes your parents because they defeated the most powerful Dark wizard of all time,” Corey said. “It was the First Wizardry War.”

“Go on,” Barry said.

Corey looked unsure but he continued. “It was eleven years ago. There was this-this wizard who wanted to have absolute power. He started building up his army of Death Eaters. They were people who supported his ideas and beliefs, you see. And the world was in chaos because of it. Everyone was scared that they or their loved ones would be killed.”

“I heard something about that from Mum and Dad,” Adriana said. “But not much. They said is was a very horrible time. I was a baby, we al were when it happened.”

“Yes it was a horrible time,” Corey went on. “Mum and Dad and the rest of the Auror's tried there best but they couldn’t catch the wizard, Lord-” he stopped talking.

“Lord who?” Barry asked wanting to hear the rest of the story.

“Lord Binned,” Corey said quietly.

“Shh,” the librarian said as she came over to us. “This is a library, not a playground.” and she walked away.

“So anyway Lord Binned wanted absolute power and he wouldn’t stop at anything to get it,” Corey went on. “It became real bad, people were found dead in their homes. Some were tortured and even some ran away.”

Barry thought to himself. It made since why everyone idolized his parents, but it doesn’t make sense why they wouldn’t tell him it.

“And your parents were finally able to defeat him,” Corey said. “That is why everyone here idolizes your parents.”

“And me?” Barry said.

“No,” Corey said.

“But I thought-” Barry started.

“They idolize you because it was the day you were born that your parents defeated Lord Binned,” Corey said. “Everyone thinks it was because you he was defeated.”

“Bloody hell,” Alec said.

“He wasn’t really defeated though,” Corey added. “He was very weak and powerless and was able to escape with his life, barely.”

“I have to speak to my parents,” Barry said. “I have to find them.”

“They're already gone,” Ginny said.

“Then I guess when we see them during the Christmas holiday is when I will have to talk with them,” Barry said. “This is something I should have known.”
