Chapter 10

Ariana

When I get back to my cabin I put away my new knife holder and go back outside and play tether ball for a while then I go and duel with Annabeth, my normal routine. Then the horn blows and we go to lunch. I have my usual turkey and cheese sandwich with an apple and carrots and offer my carrots to Athena. Malcolm is talking to our brothers and sisters and says that Leo has another big invention going on.

"It's supposed to be huge. Almost as big as the Labyrinth! Well, maybe not that big... But really big!"

He exclaimes.

"Yeah speaking of Leo. I haven't seen him in a while, so it must be pretty big!"

I say.

"Wait, but if it's so big how is he even going to get is out of Bunker 9? I mean he can't butter something that's so big! I mean what if its too heavy for all of us? What if-" I say very fast.

"He can get it out, don't worry." Annabeth interrupts me.

"So that's how Percy felt..."

I say.

"Huh?"

Annabeth and Malcolm ask.

"Nothing."

I say flashing back to the first day I met Percy and I never let him finish his sentences. We have changed so much! I can't believe that was almost a year ago.

"Ariana, snap out of it!"

Annabeth says clapping her hands in front of my face.

"Oh, huh, what did I miss?"

I ask putting my fist on my chin doing the thinker.

"Malcolm asked if you have seen his new shoes."

"Well that's random, and I think I saw them on Connor Stoll's feet..."

After a lovely conversation about how Connor's feet are too big to fit into Malcolm's shoes. We all get up and go to the dueling arena. I beat Malcolm twice and Annabeth three times and Annabeth beat me twice and Malcolm beat me none.

"How can I not beat you after you missed a week?"

Malcolm asks.

"Um, I'll have to get back to you on that!"

I reply.

"But-"

"Ah-hah! It's because I have knife which is smaller and quicker than a sword!"

I answer very satisfied.

"How did you answer that so quickly?"

Malcolm asks.

"I'm a daughter of Athena."

"I am too!"

Malcolm answeres back.

"You're a daughter?"

"Ugh. No but I am a child of Athena!"

"But you sure don't seem smart enough!"

Both Annabeth and I say.

"Ha-ha very funny!"

He answeres back very sarcastically.

"It's Capture The Flag time!"

Chiron announces happily.

Everyone cheers.

"Now everyone go get your armor and your weapons and we will make teams!"

He says cheerily.

I just stand there because, surprisingly, I had no idea what everyone was doing. I haven't been able to do this yet.

"Ariana, Annabeth will help you since she is on your team and your sister. Annabeth! Come here!"

"Yes sir?"

"I want you to help Ariana with Capture The Flag."

"Ok come on Ari."

She helps me put on celestial bronze armor which was not was not very comfy at all, especially not as comfy as my warm pjs I was in before this.

"Hey, Chiron what team is she on?"

"She is on red with you!"

I can barely hear him yelling in the background. But I guess she hears him because she gets me a bronze helmet with red feathers.

"Okay, here is the plan!"

She tells all of the red team where we were in the forest. Then, she told us the plan.

"Wait! Hold the phone! I'm the one that's getting flag!" I ask very shocked.

"That's the plan,"

Annabeth answered calmly.

"If you stick with the plan nothing can go wrong!"

"Fine. I'll try!"

We all run to our places, and the game begins.

Just stick with the plan! I tell myself over and over again.

I climb up the tallest tree and can see everything. It is so beautiful with the sunset and ocean I can't take my eyes off it.

"Focus!"

I tell myself out loud. I look around trying to find where there was any battle. I find it and wrote down on my hand south east, near clearing.

I scuttle down the tree and ran towards the clearing.

I spcome across a creek and see a blue flag across the creek.

"This is it!"

I whisper.

I climb up a small tree and make the limb go down and someone appears all of a sudden.

"Hey!" They yell

Um, what do I need to do?

I think.

"Taste pine cone!"

I get a whole bunch pine cones and throw it at them.

"Ow!" They all said in unison

I make the limb go down, grab the flag, climb down the tree, and cross the creek.

I won! I won! I won!

I think over and over again. Chiron comes down the hill and blows his horn announcing the game was over. Everyone comes rushing to see who won. When Annabeth sees my hand raised with the flag in my hand, she beams.

And I beam as well.

I am very happy.
