Chapter 34

Percy

I am in a deep sleep when I hear a scream. I wake with a start and I recognize that scream. I've heard it before, when she fell off the climbing wall. And when Nico almost got shot in the head.

It's Ariana's.

I jump out of my bed and I see Hazel, Frank, Annabeth, Leo, and Piper standing around the volleyball court. "Guys! Why aren't you guys looking for Ariana!?" I yell at them when I reach them.

"We don't know where the scream is coming from, Percy!" Annabeth yells back. My eyes widen and I go through all that's happened in this quest that could cause something bad to happen. I keep going through my mind and then I remember.

"FOLLOW ME!" I yell and run towards the big pine tree where the gate is. My suspicion was right. The boundary was not there. It's been broken through. I run towards the woods and follow the screams. Soon the screams are muffled. I guess it's the people covering Ariana's mouth. We reach the big clearing when I see footprints in the grass.

"How is that possible?" Leo asks. "They have boots. Big heavy boots. For fighting." I answer Leo's question. I follow the footprints until I see it.

I see Ariana. That's good. But the shape she is in, is not so good. She has been beaten and beaten. She is bloody and lays on the ground. She sees us and her eyes fill with excitement, then realization, then fear.

"Get out of here!" Ariana croaks. "Why? We need to help you!" Annabeth says and goes over to Ariana. "Stop! You need to leave Ariana!" Ariana is losing her voice and it's very hoarse. When Annabeth is still processing what state Ariana is in, and trying to figure out what is wrong, they emerge from the trees.

All of them. The Amazons and the Romans. They have joined together to get back at us. "Why, hello, Annabeth. Remember me?" Hylla walks slowly over to Annabeth. Annabeth grabs her dagger and keeps it in front of her, defending herself.

"Yes, I do, hello, Hylla." Annabeth says and narrows her eyes at the girl who she once beat up so long ago. "What about me?" Octavian walks out from behind some other Romans. "Yes, I do, Octavian." Annabeth says and gives a look of loathing to him.

"Why are you here." Piper asks and steps forward with her knife. "Oh, we are just here to finish what you guys started!" Hylla tells us. "What?" Annabeth asks. Hylla looks perplexed. "Well, you did punch me in the face. Twice. And you didn't give your sacrifice to Octavian like you promised and took Hazel and Frank!"

Annabeth's eyes widen as she remembers those things. Her hand lowers and she looks at Ariana. Who is still bleeding and wincing as she tries to sit up. "Stop, Ariana." Annabeth demands and Ariana quickly obeys. "Oh, but don't worry, we aren't here to start a war. Just here to finish what Annabeth started, and to finally get out sacrifice." Octavian adds. "You aren't getting Festus!" Leo yells and steps forward with fire in his hands.

"Oh, we've already finished both of those things." Hylla speaks. We look at each other when realization hits us. Ariana took Annabeth and Festus' place. She got beaten up for Annabeth. And is probably going to die for Festus. "NO!" Annabeth screams and gets down on the dirt next to Ariana.

Hylla yells at her fellow Amazons to leave and Octavian tells the Romans it's time to leave. Annabeth is next to Ariana, sobbing. Frank, Leo, and I pick up Ariana and take her to the infirmary with a sobbing Annbeth, sniffling Hazel, and a crying Piper trailing behind us.

(Omgs guys. Like there is only like one chapter left. This is horrible. I don't want this to end. Well all sad things aside will you please comment what your favorite part of the story has been, I would appreciate that sooooooo much. Anyways thank you guys so much I have loved writing this book and I'm sad it's coming to end. Well I love you all and merry Christmas and have a happy birthday)
