Chapter Three: Forgotten

"Lucy Heartfilla?" A deep voice suddenly calls out her name, causing her heart rate to spike with fear. Turning slowly to face her new company, she finds a police car pulled over to her side of the road. The man leaning across the passenger seat has a long grey beard, and an eye patch. His teeth are slightly rotted, as he grins strangely at her. "It's nice to see you again, Lucy. You look identical like your mother, young lady. I thought I was seeing a ghost"

Her heart beats frantically now, as the strange man continues on like he knows her. He knows mom? And he knows she passed away?

Lucy frowns, trying to seem unfazed by the mans creepy approach, "Excuse me, officer, but who are you?" Her voice is rude, something that isn't Lucy. She hadn't intended to speak rudely, baring in mind that he is a police officer, but her nerves are shot. He started speaking to me out of know where, claiming to know me and my mother.

The man gives a light chuckle, his uncovered eye remains set on her. "I'm Captain Officer Hades. I am a close friend of your father's." The mention of her father has her back straightening and her blood pressure rising. Lucy doesn't say anything in return, as she tries to think of a polite way to leave.

Hades speaks first, "Let me give you a ride to the Heartfilla Mansion. It's a little ways way from here, and at this late at night, it's dangerous for a young girl such as yourself to be traipsing through the streets alone..."

The words he speaks coupled with his dark tone send cold shivers down Lucy's spine. She doesn't feel safe in this mans presence. Not one bit. But she can tell from his hard stare that he isn't going to let her walk off. Biting her tongue, Lucy glances around for her friends, hoping maybe one of them wasn't completely out of sight yet. But she is otherwise all alone. She gives a shaky nod, before slowly approaching the police cruiser.

The aura around Hades continues to daunt her, like a dark presence. Captain of the Magnolia Police...

Lucy slides into the cruiser, quickly buckling her seat belt before she clutches her bag to her chest. She doesn't want to be here. She already wishes she had just run home already.

Hades chuckles darkly, placing a hand on her thigh. Lucy jumps at the contact, but is to afraid to move it. "Don't be so scared, my dear. I'm a police officer. I won't hurt you..." But his words to not reassure her. And neither does the way he pats her leg gently. Disgust fills Lucy's throat, threatening to explode from her stomach. Hades is old, and intimidating. Lucy has only know him for the last five minutes, but she knows that his dark soul is twisted and horrific. It doesn't surprise her that he is a friend of her father's, but it does that he is Captain of the Magnolia Police. His dark aura seems to sinister for someone who should be stopping criminals.

"Now, Lucy dear, how old are you now? Jude forgot to mention that he had a daughter until he told me you were coming to live with him after darling Layla's passing..." The reference to her late mother once more unsettles Lucy further. Like he is trying to make me as uncomfortable as he possibly can. He must like seeing me squirm, this sick bastard.

Lucy ignores his question as the aged officer drives in the direction of her home, keeping her bag close to her chest. Hades seems irritated by her lack of response.

He grips her thigh tighter, startling her. She shoots forward slightly, her eyes wide, but she still refuses to look at him. "It's rude to ignore someone, Miss Heartfilla. I asked you a question." His tone is calm, his voice deep. Lucy gulps loudly, her eyes scanning the familiar landmarks.

"S-Seventeen." She answers quietly. He's a police officer... Why is he doing this?

Hades returns to patting her thigh, rubbing it slightly. Goosebumps rise on Lucy's arms as she squeezes her legs together. Her body is numb with nervousness, her heart pounding loudly in her ears. But Hades easily pulls her legs apart once more, rubbing her thigh. Lucy's eyes water as she stares out the window.
