troye refused to believe he only had 4 months maybe less to live. he refused to believe that being thin actually could kill him. he also refused to believe jacob actually cared about him. this was all just a sick cosmic joke that jacob was playing on him. he wasn't going to die, and jacob didn't care.

but it wasn't a joke.

he was dying, no medicine could cure him, no treatment could magically stop the cancer. it would keep spreading and spreading till it got to his heart and killed it.

his mother finding out the news about her son did not blink twice nor cry. she stuck up her nose, going back to her bottle of alcohol but when troye wasn't looking a tear slid down her face. her heart felt heavy and guilty as she swallowed down the bitter tasting alcohol.

his father laughed and thought troye was joking, but when he saw the seriousness in his orbs the laugh drained from his mouth. he darted out of the house not once looking at troye.

jacob was always with troye, no matter how many times troye refused him and told him he didn't want him. jacob became a constant in his life, always trying to get him to smile or laugh.

even if jacob's care was a joke it was something troye needed. he couldn't do this alone, no matter how many times he tells jacob he can.

jacob sits by his bedside whenever he's having a coughing fit, rubbing circles into his back to calm him down, he lays with him on nights he can't sleep after throwing up nothing but blood. jacob held his fragile body tight, crying as the younger boy slept in peace.

jacob didn't know what he'd do when he was gone.
