''Pass the ball Caroline!'' her friend yelled. She passed the basketball and then her friend scored. They were only training for the real match this afternoon, but it was like the real thing.

''Yay!'' Caroline laughed.

They stopped playing and they put their stuff away, ready for the five boys who were coming in now.

A blonde one looked at Caroline and smiled. She smiled back, going red and shy.

They quickly got their stuff and left. Caroline bumped into someone as she left.

''Oh, sorry!'' she mumbled.

''It's Okay,'' a boy's voice said. She looked up. It was the blonde boy who smiled at her.

''I'm Niall.''

''I'm Caroline.'' she smiled at him. She liked his cheeky grin.

''Very nice to meet you.'' he told her.

''Likewise.'' she replied.

''So, like basketball?'' he asked her.

''Yes, it's one of my favourite sports.'' she nodded.

''Really? I prefer football, but basketball is cool too.''

''Yeah, it is.''

''Caroline! Come on! We'll be late!'' her friend called to her. She turned round and made a face at her friend, who rolled her eyes and left them on their own.

''I've gotta go. Sorry.''

''Can we meet up later?'' Niall asked her, hurriedly.

''No, I've got a basketball match. Tomorrow maybe.''

''Oh right. Okay.''

''We'll meet here, Okay?''

''Yeah, sure!'' Niall grinned at her.

''Bye Niall!''

''Bye Caroline.'' he said as she ran after her friend.

** Later **

The crowd roared as Caroline hooped the ball through the hole and won the match for them.

''Go Caroline!'' one boy in particular yelled. She looked up and smiled as she saw Niall cheering for her in the crowd. 'He would be a great boyfriend,' she thought.

When she lifted the trophy, Niall came up to her, pulled her close and kissed her full on the lips, in front of everyone. Her best friend gasped and asked her ''Is there anything you're not telling me?!''

''No! This-this comes as a surprise to me too!'' Caroline giggled.

''Would you be my girlfriend?'' Niall asked her, seriously.

''Yes! I would.'' she hugged him tight.

''Yay! Ooh, awesome!'' her friend squealed. She rolled her eyes and laughed.

''All because of basketball training.'' Niall winked at her.
