CHAPTER XV
DAIRY QUEEN !

"ARE WE THERE YET?"

"No."

"How 'bout now?"

"No."

"Okay-"

"If you don't shut up I will not hesitate to throw you out of this car and leave you on the side of the road!" Dallas Winston snaps, glaring at the blonde haired girl beside him.

"Sorry," Patty squeaks, slouching in her seat slightly.

"We'll be there soon," Dallas tells her, smacking her hand away from the radio.

Patty sighs and stares out the window of the car, watching he farmland pass by.

-

"Hey, Patty, wake up," Dally says shaking the girl, "Get up, we're here."

Patty slowly gets out of the car, her mind still half asleep as she trudges behind Dally towards a run down church. She looks in the boarded up windows to see Johnny and Ponyboy inside, her heart skipping a beat and she rushes inside.

"Hey, blondie," Dally says, "Wake up. How have you been?"

Patty kneels beside Johnny, running her hands through his hair, smiling to herself.

"Johnny, rise and shine, man," Dallas says and Johnny slowly comes to, blinking rapidly.

"Patty?"

"Hi!" She says happily, moving so he can sit up. Johnny stares over at Dally and he and Ponyboy begin asking questions all at once.

"Wait. One thing at a time," Dallas shushes them, "Are you guys hungry? I'm starving."

"You are? Try bologna for four days."

"Got a cancer stick?" Dally asks and Johnny hands him one. Dallas pulls out a letter handing it to Ponyboy, "I got a special delivery for Ponyboy Curtis."

"Who's this from?"

"The President of the United States," Dallas replies sarcastically.

"Yeah, right."

"Seriously," Dallas says then answers, "From your brother, Sodapop."

Johnny turns to Patty who was glaring at him, Johnny smiles sheepishly but she narrowed her eyes at him.

"What were you thinking?" She asks him, stepping forward cautiously.

"Uh-"
