Hey guys,
Sorry about the late update. I had writers block so this chapter was really hard to write.
I'm thinking about changing the name of the book. The title is really long and I need something short and sweet.
Picture of Diego on the top.
Question of the day? What is your favourite TV show?
First three comments get a dedication. Enjoy!!!!
You know that moment when something bad happens. The moment when you think to yourself that if you'd done things differently, your predicament would be so much better. The moment when you feel that dark unsettling feeling at the pit of your stomach and thinking about how badly you've screwed up causes you to feel so nauseous.
Multiply that by ten and then you might understand how I felt in that moment.
Everything was hanging in the balance. Literally everything. Our lives, the safety and reputation of my family, our business, connections- everything.
And it was all because of me.
After the very chilling phone call that I received from Alejandro, I was in a desperate state of panic. I had no idea what to do.
My father was quick to organise a weekend with the Capello's who would be flying into Spain in a week. The Capello's were already scheduled to be in Spain for one of their business meetings so my father took advantage of that opportunity.
That weekend would be very important. It was our chance to convince the Capello's that there was nothing more to hide and my father wasn't stealing secrets for rival companies.
It was so funny how the week flew by so quickly.
Everyone seemed to sense the urgency and importance of this meeting so everyone went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect. Our chef and my mother slaved in the kitchen all week preparing delicacies that they hoped would impress the Capello's. The maids cleaned and dusted every surface until not even a speck of dust could be found. Everything was set in place. It was just a matter of waiting for the Capello's to arrive.
I quickly hurried into my room to change into an outfit appropriate for the late lunch we were having. The Capello's had arrived this morning but had gone straight to the business meetings from the airport. My father had just called that they would be getting home soon so we all had to be ready.
I quickly wore a fancy lacy shirt with a black and white pattered skirt. I paired it up with some diamond earrings and a silver bracelet. I was debating on whether to let my hair down or tie it up in a ponytail when my mother burst into my room.
She never knocks on the door. Never.
'They're here. They're here and I'm not dressed and the croquembouche tower hasn't set yet and...' she took a second to look at me before her eyes widened even further in more panic.
'You aren't completely dressed yet?' she whisper shouted. Before I knew what was happening, she had brushed my hair until there was no tangles in it, hastily put on makeup on me and gave me some black heels to wear.
'But mum, these heels are too high. I'll faceplant all over the house'
'Remember, we have to dress to impress. Besides, the heels make your legs look so long and beautiful and toned. Oh how I wish I still had legs like that, mine look all flabby and jiggly and...' I quickly interrupted her before she went on. My mother always seemed to think that she wasn't ageing well but she was so beautiful, I didn't understand how she didn't see herself the way anyone else would.
