Chapter 25: Carter's Big Decision

 Chapter 25:
Days after she ripped Liam a new one, things began to calm down for Steffy. She had finally made the decision that she believed that she should've made a long time ago.

She decided to have nothing to do with Liam Spencer ever again. They would not even be friends. He had caused her too much pain & agony over the years. Steffy's feelings for him were now non-existant. She felt absolutely nothing for him now.

As for Carter, he had been very busy with something special that he didn't want Steffy to know about. He wanted it to be a surprise.

So one morning after a meeting, Carter made his move.

"Ridge, can I talk to you for a moment please?" asked Carter. "Sure. How about in my father's office? I'm headed over there by the way," siad Ridge. "No problem," said Carter.

As both men made their way to Eric's office in silence, Carter felt his hands get clammy. He couldn't believe he was doing this, but he knew that he wanted to. It was just too important to him.

As soon as they both entered the room, Ridge finally asked, "So, what do you want to talk to me about?" Carter took a deep breath & finally said it.

"I would like to ask you for permission to marry Steffy," said Carter. Ridge looked at him surprise. This was very unexpected.

Yet Carter asking for Steffy's hand in marriage was something that excited Ridge. He had secretly been hoping that this moment would happen, but he knew that it was best to let things happen at their own pace.

Ridge knew how much Carter & Steffy loved each other. They brought out the absolute best in each other & were very supportive of each other as well.

Like any father, however, Ridge did have his doubts. Seeing how Steffy had been burned by Liam made him wonder at one point if she would truly be happy.

Now Ridge no longer had those doubts. Steffy now had a great guy in her life who loved & adored her. That was all he could ever hope for as a father.

So all he was smile & say, "Did you have to ask?" Carter looked at him confused.

"You don't need my permission to marry my daughter, Carter. You had it already. I was just waiting for you to ask," said Ridge with a chuckle.

Carter breathed a major sigh of relief. He had been worried that Ridge would say no, but he was glad that he was wrong.

"Thank you, Ridge," said a grateful Carter. "It's no problem. Like any dad, I just want Steffy to be happy, & I feel that you are the one for her," said Ridge. "Thank you, Ridge," said a smiling Carter. The two then shook hands.

Carter then left for Steffy's apartment to get it ready for the big moment. When he got there, he got candles lit & made sure that he had the right music to set the mood.

Then he reached into his pocket & pulled out the important thing of all.
