Chapter 26:
When he got himself dressed up a bit, Carter waited nervously for Steffy to come home. He went through his proposal in his mind over & over again just so he could get it right because he didn't want to screw up.

Meanwhile, back at Forrester Creations, Steffy was in her office working on an email she was sending to someone at Forrester Creations-New York when she heard a knock on the door.

"Come in," she said. Who she saw enter her office was a surprise.

It was none other then Ivy, who had just had a talk with her father John. She gave Steffy a very sad look.

"I know that you're not happy that I'm here...." she started to say when Steffy cut her off with, "It's OK, Ivy."

Ivy looked at her in surprise. She had thought for sure that Steffy would be angry at her for marrying Liam but to hear her say that it was OK was a shock to her.

"What do you mean by that?" asked Ivy. "It's OK, Ivy," said Steffy with a reassuring smile. "I don't want Liam anymore nor do I have any lingering feelings for him." Ivy was now confused.

"Are you sure about that, Steffy? I mean, you & he have a history together, & I can't compete with that," said Ivy.

Steffy just sighed as she looked at her cousin. Obviously, Ivy wasn't aware of what went down between her & Liam so Steffy decided to set things straight.

Steffy said this in hopes of calming her cousin's fears & ease her sadness.

"You're right about Liam & me having a history together, but that history doesn't mean anything to me anymore," said Steffy. "What I had with Liam was nothing but fantasy. It wasn't like what I have now with Carter. He & I have a relationship that is built on love & respect. My relationship with Liam was built on lies. He said he loved me, but he never did. He was only with me to boost his ego & impress his father. He was the same way with Hope. I just hope to God he isn't being that way with you."

Ivy just looked at Steffy with big eyes. Everything she said made perfect sense. Now it was her turn to confess.

"You want to know the reason I married Liam?" asked Ivy. "No, but you're going to tell me anyway, right?" asked Steffy. Ivy nodded. She then took a deep breath & said this.

"I married Liam because I thought I was going to be deported," said Ivy. Now it was Steffy's turn to be shocked.

"Are....are..are you sure about that? You do have duel citizenship, don't you, Ives?" asked Steffy with a stunned look on her face.

"I thought I did, but an I.C.E. agent visited me at at my place & told me some story about the paperwork for my visa not being done correctly," said Ivy who shook as she remembered the day the agent showed up at her place.

"Did you take any legal action to prove your duel citizenship?" asked Steffy. "Yes, I hired a lawyer who specializes in immigration law. He looked into it & found everything was done right," said Ivy. Steffy just nodded.

However, it did make Steffy curious about one thing though.

"Does Liam know about this?" asked Steffy. "Yes he does. I told him that he didn't have stayed married to me, but he insisted that we make things work," said Ivy. Steffy again nodded.

"Look, Steffy, I'm so sorry about all of this," said Ivy. "If I had known that you no longer give a damn about Liam, I wouldn't have told you all of this, but I felt that you needed to know." Steffy nodded.

"I understand, Ives. I just want you to be happy, that's all," said Steffy. "And I want the same for you, Steff. You're one lucky girl to have Carter in your life," said Ivy with a smile. "Yes, I am," said a chuckling Steffy. The two cousins then embraced.

After talking with Ivy and finishing up her email, Steffy headed home. As she got closer to her door, she heard romantic music playing & the scent of sandelwood. She was now curious.

Steffy was in for a surprise.

A big surprise.
