I walk through the doors into school for the last day, but something isn't right. Everyone is watching me, like everyone, watching me walk to my locker. When I get there I realise why. Someone has spray painted "WHORE" in big pink letters on my door, any guesses who, well it's obvious really isn't it? ELLIE! I mean seriously pink spray paint!
I feel Daisy walk up behind me, so I unlock my locker grabbing all my books so I won't have to see it again and walk towards my first lesson, without a word.
Walking away seems to be a common theme today.
I just need everyone to stop staring.
Daisy doesn't ask any questions until we're sat in English, right at the back out of everyone's way, it's taken her half the lesson to figure out what to ask, taking the task of independent work as her cue to start the interrogation.
"Is it true?" She asks
"what?" I respond without looking up
"That's Ellie caught you and Ethan making out" I turn to her shocked
"I have never in my life made out with either of the Dolan twins" I whisper turning back to my work. "And as my best friends I can't believe you'd actually have to ask!"
"GIRLS BE QUIET AND WORK!" My English teacher shouts from the front
I cannot believe that my own best friend is questioning me! Internally thanking the teacher I turn back to my work.
I spend the rest of the class staring at my book and thinking everything through. Why would Ethan even use me as an excuse? There are a load of prettier girls at school who would love him? How painful is Ellie going to make my life now? Will Daisy help me out? Does Daisy believe me? Can I just go home yet?
When the bell goes I run to the boys locker room where I know Ethan will be. I need some answers and now!
I've been standing outside for at least ten minutes when Grayson walks up with a couple of other football guys.
"yo Pops, how can I help ya?"
"I'm looking for Ethan" I reply
"he should be on his way" he's examining my expression
"look Pops it's not your fault, these rumours, girls are just jelly because of how close you are to us" he replies with a wink, rolling my eyes at him, although he has a point but I wouldn't do something to break their relationships up, I'm not that kinda girl, even if Ellie and most of the school thinks I am. Grayson and the other guys walk into the changing rooms laughing.
When I turn back towards the corridor Ethan walks round the corner, messaging on his phone, he takes a minute to look up and check his way when he spots me turning on his heel to make a run for it. He's not fast enough and I catch him.
