Age: 8
It's a rainy day today and Luke and I are looking at the window to see which raindrop would slide down first.
"My raindrop will win!" I exclaim.
"No, I bet you my raindrop will win." Luke says.
"There's only one way to find out!" I shrug.
We bother looked closely at our raindrop slide down the window and guess who won...
"I WON!" I yelled in victory, "I'm the winner!"
"Well, I'm going to win next time." Luke smiles.
"Kids, it's time for snack!" Mum calls.
"Yay!" Luke and I say together. We both run to the kitchen and I slip right into the chair and lay my hands on the table.
"What's for snack?" Luke asks.
"I baked rainy day cookies!" Mum smiles, setting down a plate of cookies in front of us.
I took one cookie from the pile and looked at it, "I got a raindrop!"
"I got an umbrella!" Luke smiles.
Mum laughed, "Okay. Take a bite out of your cookie and tell me what you think of it."
I did what mum says and a smile grows on my face. "This is really good!"
"Yeah! I love your cookies Mrs. Bascomb." Luke grins.
"Thank you! Maybe next time I can bake cupcakes instead of cookies!" Mum exclaims happily.
"Oh! Can I help?!" I ask.
"Me too! Me too!" Luke says, waving his hand in the air.
"Okay, okay. You both can help me." Mum chuckles.
"Yes!" Luke and I say together.
"But..." Mum starts.
"Aw..." We say together... Again.
"We're going to bake them next time because sadly, I have a lot of work to do in my office." Mum sighs.
"We'll wait for you!" Luke says with a mouthful of cookie crumbs.
I nodded my head, "Yeah! We can wait!"
"All right, well... You two finish your cookies and do something fun. I need to work on my papers." Mum smiles, then says something I couldn't really hear.
"Okay." I say, shoving the cookie in my mouth with Luke doing the same.
"Are you going to get another piece?" I ask, trying to hold back my laughter or else my whole cookie will come flying out of my mouth.
"Who wouldn't?" Luke smiles.

"Luke! Grab more pillows!" I tell him while fixing the blanket.
"I'm on it!" Luke says, crawling out from under the blanket and running out of my room.
Right now, we are building a fort to sleep in since Luke's mum let him sleep over tonight.
"I got the pillows!" I hear Luke yell.
"Okay! Put them in the fort!" I finished fixing the blanket and told Luke that I was going to get the flashlights.
I walked out of the room and into my mum's room, asking her for two flashlights.
"Hm, let me guess... You and Luke are going to do a shadow puppet show?" Mum asks, giving me the flashlights.
I nodded my head and grinned, "Yep!"
Mum laughed, "Don't stay up too late now!"
"We won't mum! Good night!" I tell her.
"Night Desi!" Mum kisses my cheek and I run out of the room and into mine.
"Come on Desi!" Luke says, popping his head out from under the blanket.
"I'm coming!" I say before turning the light switch off on the wall and crawling under the blanket.
I handed Luke one of the flashlight and pulled the blanket over my body, then turned on my light.
"Guess what this is, Luke!" I put my hand into an animal and shine the light on my hand.
"Is it a..." Luke pauses to think, "A rabbit?"
"Ding, ding, ding, ding!" I giggle softly.
My arm starts to get a little tired from building the fort for too long and from holding the flashlight up.
"Okay, my turn!" He makes a fist and shines the light on his hand.
"Is it a..." I yawned. "A rock?"
"No!" Luke giggles. "It's an egg silly!"
"Oh." I smile. "My turn."
I tried putting my hand into a dog but I was so tired I couldn't keep my eyes open or my hand up. My hand fell onto my tummy and I slowly closed my eyes.
"Desi?" Luke asks quietly.
"Yes Luke?" I say, closing my eyes slowly.
"Oh. Good night. Sweet dreams..." He whispers.
Luke adds something else but I couldn't hear it as I fell asleep.
