"Are you ready, Luke?!" I called out to him.
"Wait! My helmet won't stay on my head!" Luke called back.
I kicked out the kick-stand on my bike and leaned in on the road then ran over to Luke.
"You need a bigger helmet, you know?" I say.
"I know," Luke sighs. I took the buckle and stuck it to the other part, trying to latch it together.
As soon as I heard the click, I pulled both of my hands back and smiled, "There!"
"Thanks!" Luke grins.
"You're welcome!" I skipped back to my bike and kicked the kick-stand back up then hopped on.
Luke pedalled up to me and placed both of his feet on the road. "So, where should we ride off to?"
I looked up at the sky and sighed. The colour was light-grey and I think it might rain soon but oh well. "How about Cheshire Park?"
"But that's so far!" Luke whines.
I nodded, "Yeah... That's true. How about around the street?"
"Okay!" Luke smiled, then started to pedal, "Let's go!"
I put both of my feet on the pedals and rode off to catch up with Luke. "Hey! Wait for me!"
Luke and I got our bikes at a garage sale. Surprising right? It was cheaper than getting it at a real bike store. The bikes were really nice too.
As soon as we reached the corner of our street, we turned our bikes around and waited. It's funny because it's like one of those movies where people are going on a mission/adventure and slowly walking out from a smoke or building or whatever.
"What are you waiting for, Luke?" I asked, facing him.
"I'm so... tired." Luke huffs.
I tilted my head to the side, "But we only rode down the road in like fifteen seconds."
"I know, it's just that-." The sky begins to darken a bit and I put my foot on the pedal and started riding.
"Come on Luke! Let's go before it starts raining!" I tell him.
"Yeah... I'll catch up with you." Luke looks down at the ground and holds his head.
I stopped pedalling and looked back at Luke. "Luke! Are you all right?!"
He doesn't say anything back. Instead, he falls down to the ground and I quickly hop of my bike, running over to Luke while yelling his name. Heavy raindrops start to fall from the sky.
"Luke!" I yell at him. I didn't care about getting wet. Luke is what I care about right now.
I kneeled down beside him and shook is body slowly, feeling some tears form in my eyes. "Wake up Luke!"
"Desi! Luke!" I hear mum yell, "Come inside! It's raining!"
"Mum! Something happened with Luke!" I cried out loud.
"What?!" She yells.
I look back at Luke and held his hand in mine, "Luke please... Don't leave now."
Mum comes running to us and kneels besides me. "What happened?" She asked while trying to get Luke in her arms.
"I-I don't know. He told me he was t-tired... Then he fell." I cried, pushing my wet hair out of my face.
"Here... I'll take him inside and get him dried up a bit. All we have to do is hope that he'll be okay." Mum says getting up with a motionless Luke close to her body.
"Will everything be all right?" I sniff.
"Desi... Remember what I told you?" Mum asks.
"There's a rainbow after every storm?" I say, more of a question... Quietly.
"Yes..." Mum smiles, "Now, get the bikes and keep your hopes up. Okay?"
I nod slowly, "Yes mum."
"Good." She gives me a quick kiss on my forehead and walks away.
I look up at the sky and watch the rain fall down, "God, if you're listening... Please let Luke live." I then looked down at the ground as more tears came falling down.
"I don't want to lose my friend... Best friend."

For the past half-hour, I have done nothing but lay down on the lounge and staring out the window. I may have cried a few times in between but it seems like I've run out of tears.
The rain has stopped but it's still a little dark and cloudy. Now, where's that rainbow?
Mum came into the living room and sat down on the other end if the lounge, laying her hand on my leg. "The rain has stopped.
"Yeah..." I say quietly, "I'm just waiting for that rainbow."
"It'll come out soon." Mum smiles.
"Desi?" I hear a familiar voice say.
I quickly turn my head to where the voice was coming from and I found Luke standing at the bottom of the last step.
"Hi Desi." Luke smiles and waves.
"Luke!" I exclaim happily. I quickly got up from the lounge and tackled Luke with a hug. "Luke! Oh my god! I was so worried about you!"
"Yeah me too... All I remembered was being on my bike and then I ended up on your mum's bed. W-what happened?" Luke asks, returning the hug.
I pulled away and smile, "You don't need to know what happened. As long as you're here with me, everything is all right."
"Yes... Yes it will." Luke giggled.
WOW.
THAT'S ALL I CAN SAY. WOW.
WELL HOPE YOU LIKE IT.
KEEP ON TRUCKIN' AND NEVER LET ANYONE PUT YOU DOWN.
