"Luke, could you pass the green paint please?" I ask.

"Okay." He hands me the bottle of green paint.

I lick my lips and smile, "Thanks!"

Luke and I wanted to paint a picture together, knowing that it's been two years since we became friends. My mum bought us a paint set as a gift for the both of us.

I'm painting flowers and animals while Luke is painting cars and rockets. The interest between boys and girls is a word I can't explain.

As I'm painting the last flower on my picture, Luke called me.

"Yes Lu-." I was cut off by feeling a cold feeling on my right cheek. "Luke!" I yelled, wiping the paint off.

Luke was laughing but I had to get him back. I stuck my finger in the green paint and wiped it across his forehead. "Oh no! It's the green monster!" I fake gasp.

"Hey!" He gasped. He then dipped his finger in the blue paint and wiped it on my nose. "Are you feeling a bit blue?" He fake pouts.

"That's it! Paint war!" I yelled, before dumping the whole bottle of yellow paint on him. "Oh mister sun, sun, mister shining sun, please shine down on me!" I sing.

He ignores me and grabs the bottle of purple paint and paint brush, swiping the brush all over my face, shirt, and arms. "You are the biggest grape I have ever seen!"

I was about to grab another bottle of paint but I noticed that there were no more bottles. Sadly, I lost the war. "Well Luke," I say, trying to wipe of as much paint as possible, "looks like you win this round."

He pumps his fist in the air. "Yes! I win! I win, I win, I win!" He stands up and does his little victory dance but my mum comes storming into the living room.

"Look at all the mess you've made in the living room!" Mum gasps. "Desi! In the shower now!"

I looked at Luke one last time and saw a small smile show on his lips, then turned around and went upstairs. But I didn't go to the shower right away, I stayed in the corner upstairs and watched.

"It's a good thing I covered the whole living room floor with paper or else it would be hard work scrubbing all day long." Mum sighed.

"I'm sorry Mrs. Bascomb. This is all my fault," Luke apologized.

"No it's okay Luke," She rubbed her forehead and pushed the pieces of her hair out of her face. "I understand. You two are just seven year old kids having fun."

"So you're not mad?" Luke asks.

Mum smiles. "Not at all. In fact, when Desi's dad and I were kids, we were having a lot of fun with each other just like you and Desi."

"Really?" Luke grins.

Mum nods her head, "Mhm. Well, you should go home and get cleaned up before the paint dries up and it'll be hard to rub-a-dub-dub."

"Okay!" Luke laughs. "Bye Mrs. Bascomb!"

"BYE LUKE!" I yelled, waving at him.

"BYE DESI!" Luke calls.

"Des! Why aren't you in the shower yet?!" Mum calls.

"Sorry mum!" I called back, before going in the bathroom and getting myself cleaned.
