CHAPTER 04
I was drum-struck with terror. It was him. The guy from the lift. The one because of whom I got embarrassed in lift. What the hell? How did this happen? Is he my boss? Oh no! No no no. That just can't happen. I actually drooled over my boss? Oh no! No no no. Did he take it to his heart, the way I talked to him? Oh no! No no no. Whatever happened in the morning came to my mind. Flashback of everything. This was the worst day of mine and if he is going to be my boss then I was seriously in big trouble. I felt as if someone swept away the floor beneath my feet. One bad day and I felt like all was dreams were crashed down. My actions were inappropriate plus to that I didn't even look back when he said something. He must be thinking how rude, ill-mannered and arrogant I am which is not the truth. I wanted to explain myself but nothing left from my mouth. Cat got my tongue. Hell yeah! I was officially screwed.
I heard him clear his throat. "Sir, I am very sorry. I didn't mean to offend you by any means. Sir, I swear, it's just my bad day and nothing else. I am not like you think. I am not rude. It's just that, today is not my day. Since the morning my feet were hurting and I had a bad start," I said as I looked at my fingers. "Ms. Taylor?" he called. I ignored what he said and continued, "I am just so sorry sir. I am a fan of your work and the way you work. I can never ever think of insulting you. I admire and adore you. Trust me.." "Ms. Taylor will you stop?" he asked in an authoritative tone. I stopped my jabbering and looked at him. "Is this the way you behave at your job interview?" he asked sternly. I gulped. I looked up and covered my pale face with a smile. The attempt was futile."I am sorry, sir," I said apologetically.
"It's okay. I can understand that you are nervous," he looked at me and smiled, "start with your introduction." "Hello Mr. Williamson. I have graduated from University of Toronto and applied for your company's placement. I passed all the exams kept by your panel and got selected for interview. I am very fortunate that I got this opportunity. It's nice to meet you. I love your articles and the way you work. I appreciate your efforts and how you rose your empire," I said as I smiled. He didn't return smile. He just looked at me. It was more of a glare. Wow! Great. After that lift incident, I guess he thinks I am one of those girls who hook up with their boss and flaunt them. "So Ms. Taylor what can you do? Except for staring and appreciating people," he had a smug smile while he said. That was harsh and I couldn't blame anyone else but me. It was my mistake. Thankfully, he sobered up and indicated me to say something.
"You can take a look at my resume Mr. Williamson," I said. With that I placed my resume on the desk. He leaned and took it. He smiled at me and went on reading it in brief. He turned papers one by one. I kept looking for his reactions but his face was completely flat. For few minutes there was utter silence. It looked like he was reading and scanning every inch of detail. "Very well Ms. Taylor. According to your resume, you've no experience. This is a great opportunity for you since our company chose you to work for us. Being inexperienced is fine because before you join our company we will send you for training," he said politely. I nodded my head, registering every word of his. "The training session will last for a month. After that training, you will be informed within a week whether you are selected or not," he continued.
"Whether you get a job or not is strictly on the basis of your performance. Do you get it Ms. Taylor?" he asked. I nodded. "Yes, I understand sir. I am fine with it. Training will help me in many ways," I said in agreement. I knew, even if I don't get this job the training would teach me something. He kept the file on the desk and asked, "Help you in what ways, Ms. Taylor?" He patted on my file and continued, "You may take your file back." I got up and took the file as I said, "helping me to learn about work, sir. I want to learn how people work on field. I would seek experience from my seniors and know what issues occur when you practically implement what you study. I want to be a part of this company, especially because I admire you. You give me the courage and strength every time I read how you started with a scratch." He looked at me and smirked. "So you are up for it?" he asked.
