CHAPTER 28

*screech*

"Guys wake up. We are here," said John cheerfully. I heard the sound of loud honks. "Uhh!" I groaned as I rubbed my eyes. I turned to my left in order to see my home properly. Fred opened his eyes as well. We both were smiling like ghosts. It had been a long time since we came home. "Thanks a lot for the ride uncle," I thanked. John nodded his head and smiled. I and Fred got out of the car and took in the view of our home. Our home was completely built with white stones. Our land occupied about 100 acres. We have a huge lawn at the back of our home. My dad loved outdoor breakfasts and lunches so we have a dining table made up of wooden lying outside our home. It was placed in the front lawn area, where our main home entrance door lies, since a decade. My mom loved gardening so she had planted all sorts of plants in the back of our house. She created a small garden where she had planted the rarest plants ever. I swear it is one such place that I always loved so much. It brought peace to me.

Just like our parents made our home a little heaven, we too made something for us as well. We brothers made three small cottages for ourselves with our own wealth and labor. Yeah, we have a main house and three one bedroom and kitchen cottages. Whenever we felt like staying alone or to work in peace; we used our cottage. Our parents lived in the main house meanwhile. David, our eldest brother, had this cottage at back of our lawn side where you can enjoy the green pasture of land. Mine was near my mom's garden whereas Fred's was near the 'barbecue land'. We named an area as Barbecue land. There we often celebrated all the events and parties. Sometimes we hanged out at Fred's place to enjoy barbecued food since it was convenient staying at his place. Our property is very vast in space and we could have built a mansion out of it but we didn't want to. So we decided upon small things that gave us peace and made a good use of our land. The main house had 5 rooms excluding my parents room. Our family sometimes hanged out at our main house too.

*ahem*

I turned and saw John smiling at me. "Sorry its been so long since I admired my place that I went into trance," I said as I shrugged at him. "I see your mother approaching us. I think I should leave else she will keep me up for hours," he said playfully. "Oh my God! Russel look at them. They are back," I heard my mom yell in happiness. I went into fits of laughter and asked John to run as soon as possible. John said goodbye and drove away. I turned around and saw mom jogging towards me. "What the hell mom, please slow down. What are you doing?" I shouted. She came near me and hugged me. "Its been so long Rob," said mom sadly. I grabbed her tightly and said, "yeah mom but you don't have to run and meet me." "Baby I have started jogging since a month. Its totally fine for me," she said. She pulled her away from me and caught Fred. By the look on his face, I could tell he knew what was she going to do next. And she did exactly the same thing we imagined she would. "Mom stop pulling my cheeks and kissing them. I am not a child anymore," Fred whined. I bit my lip as I tried not to laugh.

"Haley, stop making my son feel like a child," said dad. He came with open arms and gave Fred a tight hug. "Exactly mom," said Fred as he hugged dad. "Robert, why don't you say anything?" Mom looked at me. I raised my hands in defense and said, "please don't involve me in sensitive Fred's matter." Fred gave me a death glare while I was still trying to hold my laughter. "You know right, he is the smallest of all sons I have. I am allowed to treat him like a kid, Russel," she whined. Dad walked past her and winked at me, "ah! Robert. My son, I am so proud of you." "Did you just ignore me Honey?" she asked. Dad hugged me tightly and whispered, "and your mom's reaction will be one in a million. Her eyes scrunched and arms at her waist." She was exactly in the same position like dad mentioned. I looked at her and laughed. "What did you say to my son?" she asked. Dad turned to her and shrugged, "nothing." She looked at me fiercely, "what did he say?" I raised my hands again in defense.
