ONE
"Come on Darcy, let's go!" Darcy's mom yelled up the stairs loudly, but her efforts yielded no response. "Darcy Evans, now!" Darcy heard her name being called for what wasn't just the second time that day, and yet it went against her will for her to tread down those steps and never look back again. She didn't want to go and she knew it. She clutched her white blanket strewn with rose petals of various colors, and it held the musky scent that was her. Looking around the room, all Darcy saw were memories, memories she wasn't about to let go off, just yet.
"Darce, please? We have to go, honey" Darcy's mom appeared at her door, pleading with her 16 year old to come with. When Darcy made no obvious signs of leaving, her mother dutifully sat down on the bed right next to her. "Darcy, I know it's hard for you. But believe me when I say it's for the best" Darcy's mom began slowly, stroking Darcy's hair while she said the words. Darcy turned to look at her mother and this time, her eyes were brimming with a fountain of tears, and as if a full reservoir, the tears escaped from her ocean blue eyes and spilt down her face, streaking her make-up ever so slightly.
"If I go-" Darcy began sobbing, unable to complete her sentence as a hiccup found its way past her throat and through her voice. "If I go, then this will be real. All of this!" Darcy cried. "But you're not well, sweetie. And all we ever want to see is you happy, Darce" Darcy's mom forced a smile to convey through her lips but they hardly did, as her heart bore more pain than Darcy could ever know. "You're unwell, right here" Darcy's mom placed a hand across her daughter's heart. "But most of all, you'd have to fix up here." Now Darcy's mom pointed at Darcy's head.
Darcy's eyes darted to the ground and stayed there for the longest second. "You have to realize that you're beautiful. Inside and out, Darce" her mother said. Darcy looked up and her mother's eyes met hers. "Please?" she pleaded one last time and Darcy finally, reluctantly, painfully nodded. "Just think of it as a vacation" Darcy's mom smiled. Darcy shook her head. "I'd hardly think rehab counts as a vacation, mom. But thanks" she said. "I promise I won't let you down this time."

The twenty-eight minute ride all the way down to the rehab was silent interspersed with much awkwardness in between.
"What if the place is haunted?"
"What if I get bored?"
"What if they try to KILL me?"
Darcy was incessant with her attempts in trying to weasel her way out of her month stay at the rehab. "Well, if they do. I'll send some flowers your way. Lilies, your favorite" Darcy's dad said, a lack of emotion in his voice. He pulled up to the front of the rehab and Darcy got out, awkwardly giving both her parents a peck on the cheek before Darcy's dad drove off quickly, leaving a cloud of smoke behind. Clearly he was upset about Darcy leaving, but he tried his best not to show it.
Darcy dragged her two extremely heavy suitcases across the ground but in her two minutes of pushing and shoving the bags that just would not budge, she realized that she had covered little distance, if any at all. "Allow me, pretty lady!" a funny-sounding voice came from behind Darcy, startling her a little. Darcy turned around to see who it was and when she did, she came face to face with a cheeky-looking kid about her age.
He wore a gray shirt with dark-colored denims and red Vans, and a smile on his face as he helped Darcy with her suitcases. Darcy followed closely behind him, observing her surroundings as she did so. When they reached inside the place, he placed Darcy's suitcases on the ground and grinned, two dimples forming deep endlessness within his cheeks. "The name's Ryan", Ryan said, extending out a hand. Darcy gladly shook it and said her name. "Thanks. For this" Darcy gestured towards her suitcases.
