Abby's POV:
1:37 a.m.
Everything just seems like it's falling apart.
It's been two weeks since I officially moved out of my own home, fortunately Jace's mom was okay with me staying at their house. I had to share a room with Glory, but anything's better than staying with my mom at this time right now.
I wake up in 'my' new room feeling depressed and overwhelmed. I quietly get up since Glory is sleeping. I put on my slippers and walk downstairs to grab me a late night snack. Surprisingly Jace and Mrs. Norman are still awake and are talking. Jace's back was to me and couldn't see me walk inside.
"Hey Abby. Couldn't sleep?" Jace's mom said. " Yeah, um, I couldn't get much sleep, " I say quietly. Jace turns around and smiles. "Neither could we," he says.
" You're welcome to join us, " Jace's mom says kindly while smiling. I smile back and sit down. "Want anything to drink?" Jace asks. " Um, sure. I would like lemonade please, " I say. "Coming right up," he says.
" So, why couldn't you sleep? Does it feel weird? " Mrs. Norman asks curiously. "Oh no it's fine, it's just I guess I'm not sleepy. I have a lot on my mind that keeps me awake constantly," I say while looking down at my fuzzy pink slippers.
" Oh okay, if you need anything, let me know. I'm going to head upstairs, " Mrs. Norman says while getting up. "Okay, I will," I say. Jace hands me a glass of lemonade, meanwhile he has one in his hand himself.
" Thanks, " I say while taking a sip. "Don't mention it," he says also taking a sip.
"So what's really keeping you awake?" he asks. " I honestly don't know, I guess I'm maybe homesick, " I say not even believing what I'm saying. "It's okay to feel that way. It's probably best for you to be here," he says pulling me into a hug. I hug back. " Yeah, you're probably right. I'm going to head back upstairs to sleep, " I say finishing my lemonade and putting it in the sink. "Alright, see you in the morning," he says quietly almost in a whisper. I turn around and head towards the stairs. I get in the bed drifting in and out of sleep just thinking about Peter becoming my so-called 'father'.
12:34 p.m.
I get up because I heard the doorbell. I sneak to the door and open it.
My enemy was standing at the door.
"Mom, what are you doing here?" I ask while folding my arms.
"I don't have time to play games Abby. I need to talk to you and it's important," she says seriously. There's an awkward silence for a moment. " Well? I'm listening! " I say impatiently. "Okay, I really miss you Abby-" I cut her off. "Don't start mom," I start to close the door, but she stops me. " Let me finish, " she says sternly. "Okay well hurry up, everyone's still sleeping," I say. " Look, I know you're really mad at me, and I understand that, but uh" She looks at me. "What?"
"Um, me and Peter decided that it would be better if we just stayed friends," she looks down. " What! So y-you and Peter aren't getting married? " "Not if you don't want us to," she says. She fakes a smile, but I can see the sadness in her eyes. "Okay, well why are you doing this?" I ask curiously .
"Because I want you to move back in with me,"
