Emily
I woke up to the smell of burnt toast and pancakes. The toast would most definitely have been burnt by my brother and I'd bet anything that my dad was making pancakes to cheer me up from the disappointment on the match yesterday. As i flung back the duvet and got to my feet, i suddenly felt a surge of pain ripple from my ankle and completely regretted trying to get up. I felt a tear roll down my cheek and i realised just how much pain i was in. I yelled down to mum and she came running up the second she heard my voice.
"Is everything okay dear?" My mum said, short of breath after sprinting up the stairs.
"Not really, i just went to stand up and i forgot about my ankle" i replied.
"Ahh yes, hmm looks a little more swollen than yesterday. Tell you what, stay in bed for a while. Dad has made you pancakes, he wanted to do something nice for you as we all know how disappointing the match was yesterday" She held my gaze for a few seconds, nodded and ran downstairs to fetch me some pancakes.
I told you that Dad had made the pancakes out of sympathy for me.
A few minutes later, I heard two people bound up the stairs. It was probably mum and my brother. To my surprise however, my mum walked in followed by Toby. I think mum knew that i would want to be alone with Toby so she smiled and handed me the tray with a few maple syrup and lime pancakes. I cannot tell you how glad i was to see Toby.
"When your mum said you were in a lot of pain, i knew i had to come and see you" Toby grinned. This is what i loved about Toby, he was always there for me: no matter what.
"Aw thanks Toby-kins" i winked back.
He laughed and replied "i have some news for you".
"Good or bad?" i replied quizzically.
"Good... i think" he winked playfully at me.
"Go on spill the beans then."
"Well, you know my mate Brooklyn?"
"yeah?"
"well... he told me not to tell you but he likes you.. rather a lot"
I giggled "Really?"
"Yeah, he saw you at the match and wants to get to know you. Mind if i gave him your number?"
"Sure!" i replied eagerly.
Toby and i chatted for a while, with him sitting on the end of my bed and me sat, propped up will pillows, at the other end enjoying my pancakes. The conversation stayed, for a little while, about Brooklyn but then i made sure that i asked him some questions about how things were going at the academy so that the whole conversation wasn't all about me: I hate it when that happens.
After what must have been about two hours, mum came up and said that Toby's mum wanted him home. He gave me a hug, said goodbye and followed my mum down the stairs.
I couldn't believe that Brooklyn Beckham, THE Brooklyn Beckham liked me. Somehow it just didn't seem real.
