Emily

I felt great as I jumped up from bed, I didn't even feel the usual aching pain in my ankle. I had had such an amazing time yesterday with Brooklyn and Toby and I was still buzzing, even now.

It suddenly occurred to me that with my ankle injury and seeing Brooklyn and Toby, I had forgotten all about the academy. I immediately rushed over to my laptop to check for any new emails from the scouts. I really hoped that Toby was right in saying that I would be emailed about a scholarship.

As I opened my inbox, I couldnt contain my excitement: I had been awarded a scholarship!

I ran downstairs calling for my mum, dad and brother to listen to my news.

They were all equally excited about my invitation and even my brother seemed impressed. Even though he didn't play football himself, he knew just how good the standard of play was at the academy and admitted that he felt proud.

I literally didn't know what to do with myself, I was almost too happy! I had to tell Brooklyn! Wait what, I thought to myself, I had to tell Brooklyn? What about Toby? Never before, had I  thought of telling anyone something before I told Toby. What did this mean?

I decided not to think too much about it and made a decision on texting both of them, at the same time, with the same message.

"Hey, guess what?:D'

Brooklyn replied first followed by Toby a few minutes later.

Brooklyn: 'what's up? although I have a feeling I already know :P'

Toby: 'you got a scholarship didn't you!:D'

I replied to Brooklyn first...

'well let's just say you might be seeing me around your school now;)'

and then to Toby:

'Yep! Oh my, im so happy and excited :D'

Toby replied with many congratulations but explained that he had to go out with his parents so we said our goodbyes.

Just then, Brooklyn replied:

'Aha I knew you would get a scholarship! You're a really talented player:)'

We sent about ten more messages before he asked if I wanted to meet him to practise some skills that he had been taught especially by the academy. He said that they would give me an advantage when I arrived at the school for trials (to see what team I would be in).

We had agreed to meet the park in half an hour so I had enough time to change into my sports gear. I decided against wearing my football strip and boots and instead chose a pair of running leggings (my favourite pair with a blue strip winding down the left leg), a loose black sports top and completed my outfit with my navy running waterproof. I quickly tied my hair up in a high ponytail, grabbed my football, explained to my mum where I was going (missing out the meeting Brooklyn part) and jogged out the door. It took me about five minutes to reach the park as I didn't jog the whole way.

I arrived at the meeting place to find Brooklyn practising with a ball. He looked great even though he was only wearing a pair of joggers and a tight thermal t-shirt. I had to admit that he definitely had the body to wear a skin tight shirt. I giggled to myself.

He must have heard me because he turned and walked over. He said hello and gave me a hug. He smelt really good, again I giggled at myself. I think he must have thought I was giggling at him hugging me because he blushed a little.

We didn't waste any time and got straight on with him teaching and me picking up the skills as we went. He was a great teacher as I picked up everything very quickly and we were able to move rapidly through the different levels of difficulty that would really give me an edge on trial day.

For about an hour, we practised hard before he suggested that we took a break. We both sat down on the grass.

"Thankyou so much for doing this" I said.

"Don't worry, it's not a problem. I've really enjoyed teaching you anyway so it's a win win really... Well maybe a double win for me."

"Why a double win?" I asked, genuinely curious.

"Well" he paused... "double win because I get to teach football, which I love, and also spend time with you." He blushed a little and I could help but let out a little 'aww'.

"Guess it's a double win for me too then" I grinned.

He laughed and we continued to chat for a while before my phone went off with a text from mum.

"Sorry, I have to go now. Thankyou so much for helping me out though" I said trying to hide my sadness but failing.

He genuinely looked sad too I noticed.

"No worries, can we do this another time maybe?"

"Yeah I'd love to."

"Great!" he grinned.

Before I had time to turn away he stepped forward and brought me into a hug with his hand round my waist.

With his other hand he tilted my chin upwards so that my eyes met his and kissed me gently on the lips. It only lasted for a few seconds but it felt like forever. In fact, I wouldn't have minded if it had lasted forever. He stepped back smiling and I couldnt hide a large grin spreading across my face. I felt my cheeks flush red as he noticed my grin and smiled.

"I'll see you soon Emily."

"You too Brooklyn" I replied, and with that we both walked off our seperate ways.

"Wait!" I heard Brooklyn call from behind me.

"Would you rather I walked you home?"

I felt my face light up. "I'll take that as a yes please Brooklyn" he winked.

As we began to walk to my house, I felt his hand brush against mine. I opened my palm and he slid his hand into mine and intertwined our fingers.  I suddenly wished that I didn't live so close to the park because in no time at all we had already reached my doorstep. He let go of my hand to allow him to lean in and this time he kissed me with more passion and for longer. I could have lived in that moment forever. I felt his hands wrap around my waist as he pulled me into a hug. I rested my head on his shoulder, and his on mine.

It was all over too quickly as I leaned back to open my front door. He smiled, satisfied, as I waved goodbye and stepped into the house.
