Half & Half

Chapter Four

As always when talking about men with her aunts Renesmee needed a lot of mental stamina. Both Alice and Rosalie have been around the block more times than Renesmee has years and their advice alone gave Renesmee much to think about, as she left the way she came she took a moment to look up at the sky and she thought how simple yet complex a thing like the sky was. Simple because it relied on no one and no body it was just there, but the things that make up the sky make it complex. She likened this to love, love on its own seems a simple thing, but the aspects that make up love make it complex. The moment was fleeting as soon she was back on her feet faster than anyone could breathe her name, well any non-vampire that is.

She decided she wanted to go straight to Jacob’s place, seen as she was going to spend the day and night there, Alice at some point would send over her overnight things so she need not worry about those. The wind as she ran blew back her curls far around to the back of her neck, creating a mane like effect from any onlooker who would be so fortunate as to catch a glimpse at such a rare sight. Around her as usual there wasn’t much difference to nature, creatures such as her rarely disturbed the harmony of nature despite their presence, and they were at one with nature. As she ran the advice from her aunts filtered through her mind, of course there was going to be certain things she just was not going to do, she just had to work out which ones she had the courage to do. She wasn’t a cowardly person but like every person, even a hybrid, she has her personal limits she would not cross.

In next to no time the red outside of the Black household transcended from a far off view to a close up view as she came down from her full-pelt run down to a casual walk, things were more relaxed on the wolf end of things, almost as if they were carefree, as if no danger existed here or ever did. In the distance she could hear the playful sounds of the pack members enjoying a friendly scuffle, no doubt getting in some practise someday should their chief Jacob join them in a playful fight. Shaking her head and with a smile on her face she made her way down to the door, across the ramp leading up to the house and with a gentle knock on the door, she waited for the hurried response of the resident within. Jacob a split second later opened the door with a grin bright enough to dazzle the most radiant of vampires, picking Renesmee up and spinning her around before putting her back down he hugged her tightly and chuckled at her giggle. “Oh Ness it’s good to see you again.” “Hi Jake.” She said with a groan as he released her from his bear vice-like grip. “So what do you want to do today?” he asked her as he grabbed her hand gently and brought her inside the warm and cosy home. Renesmee shrugged her shoulders as she really hadn’t thought of what she would do once she got there, getting there was her main goal and nothing else. “Hmm, how about I teach you how to fish? Billy and Charlie would love to see you fishing.” He beamed as he suggested the notion, she saw no harm in it and she smiled back and nodded, confirming Jacob’s request. “Alrigtie then, stay here I’ll go make a few calls.” He said tapping her shoulder as he disappeared into the back room.

In a little under and hour Renesmee and Jacob set off in his still running Rabbit, heading down for the local docks that Billy and Charlie often fished at. You Make Me Feel So Young by Michael Buble swirled around the car as Jacob happily drove with one arm leaning on the gap in the window that earned the famous saying ‘truckers arm’, Renesmee sitting there casually listening to one of the many voices which enchanted her. “You alright Ness?” Jacob said as he kept his eyes on the road, she responded with a simple nod as she closed her eyes, listening to the melodious sound of Micheal, content with her answer Jacob smiled and pulled down the path to the dock where he regularly fished. Renesmee never goes very far away from any of her family seen as she’s still half immortal, her beauty far outgoes that of the most glamorous of supermodels, it captivates and engulfs the toughest of nails. So thanks to that she stuck to the cottage, main house and la push, the three safest places on Earth, in a certain way anyway.

Despite this being time to learn and time to teach, getting the equipment out of the car fell to Jacob as he refused for Renesmee to lift a finger, she didn’t protest but he treated her like a queen which she was in his world. She sat in a chair he had unfolded and placed ready to begin her first lesson, the weather teetered on the borderline of being tolerable, it was neither dull or exciting, well exciting for Forks. Jacob just about finished getting everything set up by the time his bronze forehead finally broke a sweat, Renesmee turned around and looked at him and smiled softly as she was now more than ready to learn. “I’m ready.” Her angelic voice chimed as he smiled nodding in reply, bending down and getting the two rods assembled he gestured for her to stand, moving back the foldable chair she took a hold of one of the two rods. Jacob smiled, “Now, the first lesson is to learn about the rod. The more you know about it the more you can use it.” And even from all the way over the two of them were, Emmett’s roar of laughter could be heard ripping through the forest, rolling his eyes Jacob shook his head. “God” he said in disbelief.
