Half & Half

Chapter Eighteen

Much to Jacob’s surprise, what lay inside for him was not what he was expecting to see at all. Instead of the mass of jumbled up, mangled living room and bedroom furniture, he found a lightly tanned wooden table smack bang in the middle of the living room floor. The couch had been pushed back to the perimeter of the room, the lights dimmed down low and a meal for two delicately laid out, clearly arranged somehow by the elegant Esme Cullen.

    “What’s all this?”

“What do you think it is Jacob?” a harmonic voice called out from the black.

Jacob knew this voice all too well, every inner corner constrained within him relaxed as he searched the darkened hallway for the beautiful creature that laid within. Stepping out from the dark and dismal black, Renesmee dressed in a dazzling red shimmering cocktail dress shone before his very eyes. Now not only did she show her radiance in the day, but also her inner goddess had time to shine from the very depths of the darkness she emerged from.

“Renesmee” his voice barely a whisper as what stood in front of him took away most of the breath in his body that enabled him to string a sentence together.

    “Hello Jacob, how are you?”

She came closer to him as his feet seemed like they were rooted to the spot, his cheeks told the story his mouth was unable to tell him, it was evident that this shocked him more than she and Alice had anticipated it to.

    “W-woah. Ness…”

    “I know, too much?”

“N-no, n-not at all.” He slowly smiled as beads of sweat formed on his forehead.

“So do you like it then? Alice picked it out.”

Jacob smirked.

“I should’ve known. Ness I’ve never seen you in anything like this before, believe me it’s captivatingly beautiful.”

Renesmee smiled and put her hand gently onto his cheek, caressing her thumb onto his perfectly tanned skin.

“Momma saw how much you missed me, so her and Alice asked Esme to cook us some dinner. They’re not far from here so we’re safe.” She batted her long, baby-like lashes up at him as his smile gave her the answer she needed.

    “But I’m underdressed.” He smirked.

    “Not a problem.”

In her 3 inch silver heels, Renesmee went and fetched a suit clad in black wrapping hanging on a hanger from a door down the dismal hall. She brought it back to him and held it up with a mischievous grin as she and Alice both knew what he would say, his shorts and black flannel shirt didn’t exactly scream dinner date.

“Ah, let me guess, monkey suit.”

    “Best looking monkey around.”

Renesmee gave him a chaste kiss to the lips before handing over the wrapped suit, her actions clear to him that she wanted him to change.

“Mmm, I’ll be right back baby.” He winked and jogged off to her room to change.

It wouldn’t be long before Jacob emerged so Renesmee stole these brief moments to send a text to her mom and Alice, showing her delight in the success of the plan.

*Mom, Alice it worked! Thank you so much I love you both!*

It was a good thing the message was brief as just as she hit send the door clicked open and a rather dashing Jacob emerged from her room.

    “Well? What do you think?”

The dinner jacket suit fit well around his muscular form, snug around his well-endowed region, not that Renesmee took much notice to that area. Her eyes were focused on the shiny lapels of his dinner jacket suit neatly laying on the gentle curvature of his chest. To her he looked just as captivating as she did to him, now they matched and their energies back in sync as a couple.

Jacob didn’t feel all that stupid in a dinner suit once he saw her reaction to his wearing it, it was worth feeling a little uncomfortable if it meant he can see her in a moment of bliss whilst things were still calm. The two after Jacob had seated his lady at the table began to eat the delicious meat meal Esme had cooked for them, no doubt with some advice from Emily by the looks of the pork chops that laid below them on their china plates.

“Mmm, gotta give it to Esme she knows how to cook a mean chop.”

Renesmee giggled as gracefully as she could as a fork full of food entered her mouth, shortly going down her throat after being chewed. They made short work of the food in less than fifteen minutes with minimal conversation due to the delicious meal that brought them together, various sneaky looks exchanged when the other wasn’t looking. Once all of it had gone, Jacob reached and put his hand over Renesmee’s that was resting on the table as her other patted her mouth clean.

“This was nice, I’m glad you arranged this. Thank you baby.” He kissed her hand and winked at her.

“You’re welcome. I figured we’d do something I’ve always wanted, since we did the fishing which you wanted me to do.”

“Yeah, you’re right. So, where’s dessert.”

    “Well…”

Renesmee brushed the inside of her right ankle  up the outside of Jacob’s left leg, her eyes never leaving his her intention quite clear as what she wanted his dessert to be. Jacob however was bemused by it all, he had never had any advances from any female let alone Renesmee of all people and out of the two of them being the one to show signs of yearning for more.

    “Renesmee…I…I…”

Before he had time to answer, the door to the cottage burst open, Edward in the doorway with a serious look on his face.

    “We gotta go.”

Without even exchanging a look both Renesmee and Jacob left the cottage to join Edward and the family outside. They all had worried looks on their faces as Alice had seen something coming even without her visions, she wouldn’t have expected to ever happen. She looked at Renesmee and Jacob as Jasper stood not far behind her, equally as worried.

“They’re coming here, tonight. Now. Riley’s mate and Kairisha.”

Renesmee’s fair complexion went even fairer as she knew that meant Jacob had to leave her again, and with this unexpected visit even with Alice watching, she’d know at this point she wouldn’t know when she would see Jacob again in the near future.
