You and Will have been “friends” for some time now, but you don’t really know where you stand. I know, fun right? Anyway, homecoming is next month and naturally you want Will to ask you.

You sit in English, staring at the clock, counting down the last ten minutes until the weekend. You’re meeting Will afterward and you can’t wait to see his face again…even though you saw him just this morning. Your teacher drones on and on about structure, rhetoric, and symbolism, but you’re not listening, nope, Will is much more interesting than that. You sigh to yourself and picture his eyes, they’re such a deep brown; you feel like you could get lost in them forever… Not that you would, I mean you’re just friends, nothing more. But maybe… NO! You promised yourself you would have none of that boy drama this year, not after everything you went through last time. No, you’ve learned your lesson and you won’t lose Will the same way you lost the last one. But if he did ask you to homecoming…then you would dance with him as he held your waist and stared into your eyes…and maybe you’d steal a ki—

The bell rings and you practically topple out of your seat in the mad rush to get out of the classroom. You sigh in relief once you’re outside, free at la—Wait a second, where’s Will? He’s always here before you, his class is like two feet away and yours is all the way across campus. You shrug, he probably just went to his locker or something. Your phone buzzes and when you see that it’s Will, you can’t help yourself, but let out a small squeal of delight. Change of plans, meet me in the courtyard, see you soon.

As you get closer to the courtyard, you see a group of familiar faces, about six or seven of your friends, but Will is no where in sight. You keep walking and they all start smiling and waving at you, calling your name, “Victoria! VICTORIA!” You awkwardly wave back, slightly confused, until they all hold up a long sign: VICTORIA, HOMECOMING? ♥

You smile to yourself, but can’t figure out who’s asking, until Will comes out from behind them, carrying a bunch of balloons. He walks towards you, his smile nervous and his face red. “Victoria, will you go to homecoming with me?” You can practically feel the tension as all your friends lean in, silent and awaiting your answer. You bite back your joyful tears and nod weakly, “Yes.” He grins and hugs you as all your friends throw glitter on you two. Some of it gets in your eyes, but you don’t mind, you have Will and you know he won’t hurt you like the last one.
