You walked out of the gym after conditioning, the night was gloomy, there were no stars out. You shivered, pulling your hoodie tight around your body and took up a brisk walk to get home.
Halloween is supposed to be fun, but this year, you know it won’t be. There’s a thick cloud cover, shielding the moon from sight and leaving you without all light. The wind is biting and goose bumps form on your skin. It’s time to go home.
You get home, practically slamming the door behind you, and see Will sitting at the table.
He looks up, “Um, hi, your mom let me in, but then she left, so…” his voice trails off as he wraps you in a tight hug.
“Hey, Will,” you murmur into his chest, taking in his warmth and his scent. You’re still trembling from the cold, unable to shake that nagging feeling that there’s something else here. But Will doesn’t seem to notice.
And everything feels wrong. It’s cold, it’s drafty, and it’s dark. You try to pull away, but Will just holds onto you tighter.
You look up, and it’s not Will and this isn’t your home.
