You always liked Halloween, at least the idea of it. You were intrigued by the concept of becoming someone else for just one night and then leaving said persona in the past. Yup, Halloween is undoubtedly a good thing. And on top of that, you’re going to a Halloweenparty with your boyfriend, Gabe. Almost everyone you know will be there; it’s a public event being held by the high school.
Anyway, you’re in the bathroom, doing a smokey eye and applying black eyeliner. You fan your eyes, drying the liquid winged eyeliner. You open your eyes and look in the mirror. You smile at your reflection, liking what you see. You’re dressed as Catwoman, in a black, long-sleeved, scoop-necked, shirt that hugs you in all the right places and black, leatherette pants. You finish the look by donning your fuzzy cat ears, and tail, and grab a black mask. The doorbell rings and squeal to yourself before running to the door and opening it.
“Hey, Kayla!” Gabe grins when he sees you, scanning you quickly, his cheeks flushing slightly. You can feel your stomach doing flips over itself at the sight of him. He’s wearing a fitted, navy blue v-neck and black soccer pants with yellow stripes down the sides, topped off with a perfect Batman cape.
“Hi,” you smile back, trying not to choke on your nerves, seeing him like this.
“You ready?” he asks, pulling out a Batman mask and offering his arm.
“Yes,” you breathe, placing your hand in the crook of his elbow as he leads you to his car. He drives the two of you to the party, parks on the street, and the two of you walk up to the open door, entering a whole new world (Sorry, I couldn’t resist).
The party energetic, but not over-the-top. You stay close to Gabe, lacing your fingers with his. He gives your hand a squeeze and plants a quick kiss on the top of your head. He guides you to the dance floor where the two of you dance amongst couples, friends, and everyone in between. He slips his arms around your waist and hugs you for what feels like forever. You sigh to yourself and think you could stay like this forever.
After about an hour and a half at the party, you’re feeling a bit hungry, so you and Gabe go to check out the snacks. You grab a cookie and he picks up a cupcake. He takes a bit into his cupcake, leaving a bit of orange frosting on his upper lip. You giggle a bit and he smiles at you, “What’s so funny?”
“You’ve got some…” but your voice trails off as you think of all the movie scenes you’ve seen that are just like this.
“Some what?” he smiles nervously.
“Allow me,” you reach up with your thumb and wipe the frosting off his lip, the lick it off your thumb, all while smiling mischievously. He blushes and so do you. His eyes soften as he leans in and plants a gentle kiss right on your lips.
