My morning just got weirder than I thought for a brief moment I was home free because Keagan saw me down the hallway, but didn’t make his way over until........damn I don’t even know her name. I was trying to retrace my steps and remember if she even told me. Just in case I wasn’t paying attention. Nope, defiantly no names exchange.
BANG!
My whole right side of my body was aching with pain. I heard some laughter around me; some either ignore or just didn’t care what happen. I looked up and saw Keagan and his best friend Codie both laughing at what they accomplished. They’re both on the football team. They were doing what they do best. Picking on me for no apparent reason, maybe it’s because I never fight back.
“You should look where you’re walking there Zekey boy,” Codie smirked.
“Aw he dropped his books, here let me,” Keagan was reaching for my books, but scattered them all over the hallway more, “oops.” They walked away laughing and high fiving.
After they left I got up and gather up my scatter books. As I was reaching for my last book another hand was already picking it up. I looked to see the girl that I helped find the office.
“What happen?”
Should I tell her or tell a lie?
“The same thing that always happens”
“And that would be?” it was like she was pumping for more information from me.
“Oh before you answer do you know where room 213 is? I have English first period, then math, which I suck at and history for third period and lunch for fourth.....” is she ranting or is she very talkative?
“Yeah it’s just down that hallway, make a right turn, but make sure to knock loud. The English teacher is kind of deaf,” I cut her off before she told me her whole schedule, “so I heard,” I mumble the last part to myself.
“Oo...before you go can I sit with you for lunch that is if we have the same lunch hour?” she was looking at me all hope with her big doe brown eyes.
“Sure?” it came out more a question then an answer.
I went to my double AP English class and then to AP History. I made my way to the same seat I always sit in, the middle row in the very centre of the room. I just like sitting there everyone thinks that if you sit there you’ll get called to answer questions, but I rarely ever get called upon. It was a couple of minutes ‘til the bell rings. I was the only one that showed up early.
BRING! BRING!
Everyone came walking in and sat anywhere that was available. There was only one spot left and that was the desk beside me. I start reading my novel since the teacher wasn’t here. It was about young girl being a hunter and on the run for her life. I only bought it because it looked a good read. I was so into the book that I didn’t notice the teacher was here and that someone was sitting on the desk to the right of me. It was Archer Bennett, he was part of the emo clique and was openly gay.
I never knew he was in this class. Huh, I really have to pay attention to people.
“Now for your partners for the joint project,” what joint project, partners. This is the first time I ever that I didn’t know what was happening in class.
“.......And Archer Bennett,” she continued listing off names. “Max Charles and Lee Danials,” were the last names she called. Hey she didn’t call my name at all. I raised my hand to find out why?
“Yes Mr. Nolan?”
“You didn’t call my name,” thinking I was being helpful, but turns out I’m not. Since, she’s giving me an evil look.
“I already called your name and your partner is Archer Bennett, can I continue on with what you have to do for this project.”
“Yes, ma’am” I sink down in my seat from embarrassment. During the whole time I wasn’t paying attention because I was freaking out in the inside. I have to interact with another human being. Screw everything I can afford getting a bad grade as long as I don’t have to talk to another person. One is good enough and I don’t even know her name.
The bell went off signalling that it was time for lunch. I gather up my books and made my way towards my locker. It wasn’t very far from my history class. Then head to the cafeteria. The lunch line was long so I had to wait. As I waited I start to think about my old friends. We were so close then we just grew apart. Especially me, the rest went their spate ways when they enter junior high school.
“ZEKE!” I turn around to look for the person who called my name and saw it was her again. She made her way to where I was standing, cutting in line causing everyone to yell at her, but she gave them the one finger salute.
“Man ain’t I lucky we have the same lunch period,” she stood beside me and was tiptoeing to see how far in the line we were.
“Yeah, not to be rude or anything what’s your name?” might as well get this out of the way.
“I didn’t tell you?” I shook my head, “December Rose Williamson, put it there.” She stuck her hand out for a handshake. Which I did, after standing in the lunch for awhile I got my food. I made my way to a table with December fallowing me.
“Don’t look now, but here comes my worst nightmare,” she ducked behind me and I turn to see the bad boy of the school, Stryker Rivera. Cliché I know, but it was appropriate since no one and I mean no one mess with him. He only surrounds himself with close friends.
“Hey sup Coz?” he sat down with his best friend Hopper sitting beside December.
“What do you want?” she bangs her head against the table.
“Nothing much just thought I see how my favourite cousin was doing on her first day here” he was pretending to check his nails.
“Yeah like you care and we don’t even get along, you assmuncher.” Is that even a comeback or was it a put down. They were talking as if I wasn’t here. I was already used this by now, people talking as if I didn’t exist.
“Hey! If isn’t my favourite punching bag,” oh no. I thought he was in juvie for stealing a car. He put his hand on shoulder making me flinch out of pain. He’s the only one that gives me actual physical pain and leaves a mark while doing it.
He turned me around forcefully and pulled me up by my arm, by now I had Stryker and Hopper’s attention.
“What has my little freak of nature been up to while I was away this summer?” I didn’t say anything because he would just punch me for talking back.
“Hey let him you go you big ape!” December slammed her fists on the table causing everyone to stop what they were doing.
“And what are you going to do about?”
“This” she lunged over the table tackling me and Dan. I land on my side with my head making a hard contact with the floor. I can see blurs front of me. It didn’t help that my vision was letting me see black dots and blurry things, but I’m taking a wild guess here the big moving blur most be December and Dan fighting. Then it just went black.
