Chapter 20

It finally arrived, the day I had been waiting for. Graduation, even though I only have three people inside the principle office, it was where I decided to have it, nothing big just something small.

“Congratulations,” Principal Poe shook hands with me. Even though I thought all I only need here where three people, but I couldn’t help but feel that there was something missing.

C.J, Dan and Tyler started clapping and making whistling sounds, causing me to blush from embarrassment. Dan was suppose to be in class, but beg Principal Poe if he can be here and leave with us to have celebrate dinner.

“Come on we got to go celebrate,” C.J grabbed my hand dragging me out the door passing the school’s secretary was smiling and waving goodbye to me. Dan and Tyler were running to catch up, since C.J was too excited to slow down.

We were so close to my freedom, but it was short lived. Someone swung the janitor’s door open almost hitting C.J, if I hadn’t stopped him.

Walking out of the janitor’s closet was Jake, captain of the football team. He was trying to fix his hair and was looking left, when he should’ve been looking right.  He walked out nodding his head to whoever was in the closet with him followed right behind.

As I saw who it was I told myself ‘do NOT cry’ Zeke cause if you do. You’ll just prove how much he hurt you. I knew he would move on, I just couldn’t bear to see him go through with it. That’s why I wanted to avoid him as much as possible. Not now, seeing him with the captain of the football team and who I think is a closet gay like me and seeing him with Jake practically kills me inside, but on the outside it I don’t show it.

“So it’s a deal, no one will know about this,” Jake turn to Stryker.

“Believe me you’re not the only one who has a reputation to protect,” he was putting his jacket. The jacket I know he loves and wouldn’t let anyone else wear.

“Ok same time tomorrow,” they were still talking, seriously doesn’t anyone ever check around them to make sure no one is around listening to their conversation.

“Yeah, yeah,” Stryker turn around and froze. At first he only saw me and then finally C.J standing in front of me.

“Thank goodness you guys stop to wait, I didn’t think I would have been able to catch up,” Dan and Tyler came, but it was Tyler who was the one talking and panting out of breath. Dan wasn’t even in that state, but he did tense up once he saw who was standing in front of me and C.J.

You see, Dan, Stryker and Jake never really got along. Even though Dan was on the football team, he didn’t like Jake. Stryker on the other hand I have no idea why he hates him. It just started after I told him what happen between me and him. Oh I get it now.

“What are you doing here you geek?” Jake smirked at his own stupidity and Stryker just look as if he didn’t care.

“Not coming out of the closet,” ok not the smartest thing to say. Jake made the move of tossing C.J aside causing him to land head first into the lockers. My first instinct was to run over to C.J and see if he was seriously hurt. My second was to punch Jake for even laying a hand on C.J. Instead a decision was made, but not by me because I was busy trying to get air back into my lungs. Jake punched me without even a slightest warning.

“You bastard!” I heard Dan scream and lunged for Jake and the two got into. Fists were flying everywhere and slamming one another into lockers to further damage than just black eyes and broken noses.

I was on the ground looking at the progress of the fighting until I remember that C.J was thrown to the lockers. I slowly got up on my hand and knees crawling to his limp form. I got to him and saw that he was still breathing.
