Chapter 4: What Earth? People still live there?

Somewhere in Space

Tuesday, July 6, 2302

I walk into the control room and notice a red light. As I walked towards the panel I see that the blinking light is because we are low on power, so I go look for Akio. I find him napping with his feet up on the lounge table. 

"Hey!" he shouts after I push him of his seat. 

"Hey? Hey? Did you recharge the ship when we last landed?" I question him. 

"uhhh," is all that he can say. I rush to the control room and find a planet to land on, Earth.

 Akio walks in and says, "Hey, isn't Earth the planet had to be evacuated a couple of years ago because the pollution made it almost impossible to breathe."

"Yeah but I think they built a charging station before they had to evacuate."

"Then lets land."

" I can't until you find me a place to land."

"Fine," Akio sighs. He finds me a charging station at the continent that looks like North America. I slowly lower the spaceship onto the charging station after we pass a green statue of a woman holding a torch over her head. I walked out of the ship and onto the charging pad to recharge the dying ship. The air is thick and dark, it makes it really hard to breathe. 

From the corner of my eye I see a shadow move. I instantly tense up, Akio is still in the ship so who could it be. I fill up the ship and then I feel something poke me, I slowly turn to see what has been poking me and I see something so unexpected I almost jumped. It was a small child, the kid had long, raven hair so I couldn't tell if they were a girl or a boy. 

"Hello?" asked the kid as if he/she couldn't believe that I was there. 

"Hi," I replied. 

"Who are you?" he/she questions me. 

"Well my name is Felizita Amsel, may I know your name?"

"My name's Himura Akihito." Ahh so his is a boy.

" Can I ask you a very important question?"

"Sure"

"Why are you doing here?"

"Well, my parents left me here in New York we had come to evacuate but I got lost in the crowd. Now I live with the other people that were left behind."

"What there are more people here?"

"Yes, and we have lived here for about 4 months, now."

"Hey!" I yell as I came up with an idea, that startled the child.

 "Why don't I bring you guys to New Earth." "That's a great idea, I'll get the others and tell them about it," the kid said as he ran to get the others. 

"Hey! What is taking you so long?!" Akio yells at me from the door of the ship. 

"Who do you think you are yelling at me, If it wasn't for you I wouldn't even be here!" Akio slowly walks in defeat towards me. He lowers his head and I let him know I forgive him by patting his head three times and then mess up his hair. 

"Urghh" he groans and fixes his hair so his bangs cover both his eyes and makes sure his mask is placed right. 

"We're ready," Akihito says between gasps for air. 

"Hey who's that" he asks as he points to Akio. 

"Ohh, Akio, he is a friend." With that the other people bored and we are on our route to New Earth. We might just be able to find Akihito's parents.
