*Dacota's POV*
"You're despicable." I mutter.
"I know." he says happily. I roll my eyes, walking faster to get to the bathroom. Harry turns to go the guys' restroom, and I turn into the girls'. But, upon hearing voices, I stopped.
"Oh, my god, can you actually believe Harry Styles goes to this school?" a preppy voice sounded. I sigh, realizing it was just a couple of fans. I start to walk in, but stopped again when I heard my name.
"Yeah, and can you believe that Dacota chick is hanging on to him? She's practically begging for his attention." another voice said. I furrowed my eyebrows and listened.
"Oh, my god, I know. I mean, like, I know she doesn't have any friends, but is she really that desperate?" What? I have plenty of friends. I have Emily, and I'm pretty sure I'm acquainted with Alex. And...and there's others, too.
"Yeah, I swear, if she even touches my Harry-" I had had enough. I walked in, pretending like I had just come. The girls instantly stopped talking, pretending that they were fixing their makeup. They smiled slightly, and I smiled slightly back, then started wiping the icing and flour off my face and hair. They soon walked out, leaving me to squeeze out a couple tears. I wasn't a slut. I didn't even want to befriend Harry, it just sort of...happened. I had no intention of being friends with a celebrity. I didn't even know who he was before today. I heard the other girls talking to someone outside, probably about me. I wiped the tears away, fixed my hair, straightened my clothes, and pretended like I wasn't hurting. I walk out to see the two girls talking to Harry.
"Oh, yeah, I have trouble with Geonometry, too." one of them said. Harry looked really annoyed.
"Yes, but I'm pretty sure it's pronounced Geometry, love." The girl squealed a bit when he called her 'love'.
"Oh, you're so smart, Harry." the other girl said, sliding her hand down his arm. He shook her off and turned to me.
"Well, I only knew that, because Cody's teaching me. Isn't that right, Cody?" I rolled my eyes and nodded.
"Oh, Dacota? Oh, we're like BFF's with her!" the first girl chirped, coming to cling to my arm.
"Yeah, yeah! We hang out ALL the time, don't we?" the second girl asked.
"Sorry, what are your names again?" I ask, making Harry chuckle. The two girls looked frantic, then laughed fakely.
"Oh, you're so funny, 'Cota!" the first girl giggled.
"Yeah, excuse me." I wrestled out of their grasp and pushed past them. Harry turned and followed me. When we had turned the corner, Harry burst out laughing. I smiled a bit, too. "If you ever see me being friendly towards them, kill me on the spot." I say.
He laughs again, "With pleasure. I don't think I've ever seen a more desperate pair of girls." I laughed with him.
"Oh, my god, though." I say. "I can't believe they'd actually call me their friend, considering what they were saying before I walked in."
"They were saying things about you?" Harry asked, the smile wiped off. We stopped walking. The clock said it was only a couple minutes until the bell rang to go home, so we weren't exactly walking fast.
"Yeah, but, you know. Just bitches being bitches. It's nothing." I mutter, starting to walk again. Harry put a hand on my shoulder, but I shook him off.
"Cody..."
"Harry, stop. It's fine." I started walking past him to go to my locker. I wanted out of here.
"Obviously it's not."
"Harry! I'm fine, this has happened before. I can take care of myself." I said, my voice cracking at the end of my sentence. He looked worried and sad, but I turned around. I was leaving early, who cares about an attendance record. I went to my locker and put everything in my backpack. I slung it over my shoulder and started walking to the back entrance. Harry was still where I left him, eyes on the floor. He looked up when I walked past, and I could hear him mutter something, but I kept walking. I slammed my shoulder into the door and escaped. I ran to my car, a tear loosely falling. I wiped it away and got out my keys. I unlocked the door and slid in, dropping my bag in the passengers' side. I saw a curly-headed figure burst through the door I had come out of, but I started my car and drove out of the parking lot. I pressed some buttons on the dashboard and AC/DC started playing. They always made me feel good when I wanted to cry or punch someone or both.
