*Dacota's POV*
The next day, I walk into Algebra again and sit in my spot. I get my new book out and start to read. I feel Harry sit next to me and I look up from my book.
"Hello, Cody." He says brightly.
"Hello, person who I have yet to come up with a nickname for." I say just as brightly. We laugh a little. I go back to reading for a while until Harry interrupts me.
"I like your necklace." he smirks. I didn't notice that I was fiddling with my necklace. It's a silver chain with a little charm on it. I see a similar chain around Harry's neck that has the same charm. A paper airplane charm.
"I like yours, too." I say back.
"Where did you get yours?" he asks.
"My grandmother gave it to me before she died, five years ago." I hate talking about it; my grandma and I were close. "I wear it every day."
"I'm sorry." he says quietly.
"Where's you get yours?"
"I got mine from my mum before I left after making it onto the X-Factor. Haven't taken it off since." he says. We both have sad stories behind the necklaces. His was when he had to leave his mum, his family, his life, to pursue his dreams. Mine was when I lost my role model that was my grandmother. They both have the same meanings. Special, yet tragic.
"Well, that got real depressing, real fast." he chuckles bringing me out of my daze.
"Yeah, it really did." I laugh along.
"Class, please get to your stations for the lab we're doing. It's mostly physics but you all are ahead in the other classes." Mr. Green chuckles. Harry and I get instructions and go to out station. This is a cool lab.
"So, put that in there." I say pointing to the things. He does as such.
"Please, take off any valuables." Mr. Green says. I look at Harry and he looks back. We both look at our necklaces.
"Can you take mine off?" I ask him. I'm good at putting necklaces on, but I can't get them off. He nods and I turn so my back is to him. I pull my hair over my right shoulder. Tingles go through my body as I feel his warm fingers playing with the chain until it comes off. I shake off the tingles a bit and turn around.
"Thanks." I say and grab my necklace.
"No problem." he says, taking his own necklace off. We both set them on our table and turn back around. About 45 minutes later, everyone is done with the lab and I had my necklace around my neck again. I feel complete now.
"Class dismissed." Mr. Green says. I walk to the front of the room.
"Dacota, can I speak to you?" he asks.
"Sure." I walk to his desk. He waits until everyone is gone.
"How's it going?" Mr. Green knows that I don't really have many friends.
"Good." I reply.
"How are things going with Harry?"
"Great, he's a really nice guy." I smile.
"I figured you would welcome him. That's why I put him by you." He smirks. "You can go to your next class. I just wanted to check in on you."
"Bye, Mr. Green." I wave and walk out of class. Shockingly, no sarcasm, when I found Harry in the hallway, some chick was kissing Harry. He wasn't kissing back as far as I can tell. I clear my throat loudly next to them.
"Cody." Harry states with an apologetic smile.
"Hey, what's going on here?" I ask awkwardly.
"Shut up," the bimbo says in a snotty, high-pitched voice. "He doesn't want to waste time on a piece of shit like you."
"Aw," I say in a fake voice. I've dealt with this before. "Well, I think you might have something on your face." I say.
"Ugh! What is it!" She says angrily and scared at the same time.
"Well, I think I see," I gasp loudly, "a bit of FACE on your MAKEUP!" I give a dramatic sigh and put my hand to my forehead. She scoffs and walks away into the bathroom to fix her makeup.
"I think her makeup kit is a box of crayons." he says quietly.
"Totally." I say.
"Thanks for saving me." he says thankfully.
"Anything for my charm buddy." I say and he laughs. We walk side by side to our next class.
