Chapter1- Fairs and planes
Night time, a wonderful peaceful atmosphere surrounded all of us in the Climbers' Shack. I'm still confused about how I got here because I forgot my memory due to a drug put in my drink. To set you straight I was not at a party but I was climbing when a guy, who is now my best friend, got jealous of my boyfriend. When he admitted this I wasn't as mad as most people would be. I felt bad because poor Stephen didn't have any friends and planed to use the drug to restart his own life. I'm still remembering bits and pieces as I usually do the same things every day: school, climbing, conpetive swimming and finally sleep.
That night I kept thinking about the fair that would be the next day causing me to have diffuculty sleeping. I remembered when I was in grade 9 and had morning swim practice I had the same problem. I would lay in bed that night worrying and wondering about getting up. I always thought I could get out of bed the night before but when it came to morning, I sometimes just couldn't make myself go.
I dreamt about a fire, a huge fire. My mind created this situation as a nightmare to feed my fear of fire. It was spontaneous combustion when two oil tanks explosioned behind me causing me to be the only climber left. I had no where no go, no one to talk to and it even seemed like the whole town was empty. Then the dream was over, I woke up to real life. I was lying in my bed, everyone else sleeping like usual.
I decided to get up now so I could get to the bathroom while there was no line. I couldn't help but stop at look at Stephen and Keith's peaceful bodies. I wanted to know what they were dreaming about, I decided I would ask them latter.
When everyone was finally up I went to go see if my boyfriend, Keith, was feeling better. I sat on his bed, "Good morning sleepy head. Are you feeling better?"
"Ally, hey, no but that carnival today, um I kind of can't go and that's the thing..."
"Yes, right I knew that it was our thing." Ally said lying to a comment that she heard wrong. "But why can't you go? I even had trouble sleeping because I was so worried about it."
"Don't worry about me and don't worry about why I am not going. Stephen is so boring so why don't you go have a borring day with him?" Keith asked.
I was angered by this comment because it bothered me that Keith and Stephen couldn't get along. I changed the subject by asking "Can you tell me about your dream?"
"Well it was ..." he got cut off.
Stephen ran up to me, "Ally come on we have to get to the fair early; it's going to be so much fun!"
"See you later Keith." I said while walking away. I then informed Stephen about what Keith said. Stephen seemed very mad to know that I heard keith say that the fair was Keith and I's thing. Stephen also didn't belive that Keith had a good enough reason for skipping the fair. He sugested that he was maybe depressed or just didn't want to go to the fair.
Stephen told me that there was something else that could be fun for us to do so I followed him for the surprise activity. On the way I told Stephen that Keith was just about to tell me what his dream was about when he interrupted. When Stephen didn't take my clue to tell me about his dream, I asked him. He began to act nervous and said he couldn't tell me.
We arrived at this amazing aircraft hanger place. There were lots of commercial craft and military jets. We were able just to walk right on the property and it didn't even look like anyone was there. I knew this was against the law but, I was up for some fun.
I knew I always wanted to fly in a helicopter so we looked in that first. Stephen had to explain that trying to fly it could get us caught but, I could only think to myself that being here could get us caught. I then took the opportunity to ask Stephen what he thought would happen if we got caught. He said Keith's father would bail us out of jail and then talk to us personally. Stephen then made a joke about me finally meeting Keith's parents.
