Chapter 21

 It’s been a week since I started at St Pats. I’ve settled in and things are going well. Kiara is amazing she’s been over every day after school we take chloe to the park and shops. She seems really good with chloe and chloe loves her.

“Mum have you seen my black jacket” I yelled from upstairs.

We had a field trip today to some gardens the weather isn’t looking very good it’s cloudy and windy outside so I needed to dress appropriately.

“It’s down here on the end of the lounge” she yelled back.

I ran down stair and grabbed my jacket. I went into the kitchen and made some breakfast mum was feeding chloe some porridge.

“No chloe” my mum said as chloe went to hit the spoon away.

She’s been a little unsettled the last few days with teething again she’s got nearly all her teeth. I hate seeing my baby girl in pain but I know there’s nothing I can do about it apart from give her pain relief when she needs it. 

“Hey beautiful girl” I said as I kissed chloe on the head.

“Mum, Mum, Mum” was her reply.

I haven’t heard from Garry since the last incident but I had a message on my phone this morning saying he wants to see chloe I sent a simple message back saying NO.

If I had my way he’d never see her again. Amy and Garry are still seeing each other but I’m ok with that now the two of them can have each other because I don’t want anything to do with either of them. I’m moving on with my life.

I grabbed my toast of the bench and said a quick goodbye to mum and chloe and walked out the door to meet Kiara.

Just as I looked up I had seen Veronica crossing the road.

“Hey girl you on your way to school” she asked.

“Yeah field trip today so no uniform” I replied with a big smile.

“It sure is an ugly uniform” V said with a slight laugh.

“That’s for sure. How are you? How are things at school?” I asked her.

“Not too bad I guess a lot of assignments and shit like usual. How’s the new school?” she asked.

“It’s ok I’ve settled in already so that’s good, I’ve met a few nice people. Some were pretty horrible my first day because I decided not to keep chloe a secret” I answered.

“Shit girl I’m sorry” V said.

“It’s alright everything’s passed” I replied.

We ran into Kiara she was waiting where she said she’d be.

“Hey Kiara this is Veronica one of my closest friends” I introduced.

“Hi it’s nice to meet you” said Kiara.

“You to” replied Veronica.

We all spoke for a few minutes before Kiara and I had to leave or we’d miss the bus. We said our goodbyes and agreed to catch up after school.

“Your friend veronica seems really nice” said Kiara on our way to school.

“She is. She been there for me a lot the last few months she hid the fact Garry slept with Amy but I know she was only trying to help in a way I guess” I replied.

We got to school just as the bus’s pulled up. We went to the designated waiting area and waited for the roll to be called.

“Ok students I’m going to call out your name and I want you to come forward and had in your permission note” said Mrs Facer in a loud voice.

One by one our names were called out until everyone had there notes handed in. we all got on the bus and waited out the ride to the gardens. ‘God I hope the rain stays away’ I thought to myself.

Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves so far and we still had thirty minutes until we arrived at the gardens. The jocks and there little followers were all at the back of the bus I don’t think they could be any noisier. I was getting a massive headache and just wanted to sleep.

“SHUT THE HELL UP” I yelled.

“Listen up little miss mummy no one cares what you want” said some stupid bleach dyed blonde I think it was Layla but I wasn’t too sure.

“Don’t listen to the bitch” said Andy from behind me.

“I’m not their just so loud” I replied.

While Kiara and Andy were talking I sat there pretending I was listening but in fact I was thinking of my dad he hasn’t been home much lately and our family dinner we were meant to have didn’t happen because he had to work late. Fair enough his a doctor and they work crazy hours but his only been home for about twelve hours all week and I was starting to get worried. ‘What if his cheating on mum? Does he love us anymore? I was pulled out of my thoughts by Andy.

“Hello earth to Tina” he said.

“Oh sorry I was day dreaming” I replied.

“That’s ok I was asking if you wanted to do something on the weekend if your free?” he asked

‘Great was he asking me out on a date? Does he remember I have a daughter at home? I can’t just go out and do things like I used to’ I thought.

“Amm I’m not sure what I’m doing yet can I let you know later “I asked.

“That’s fine you have my number” he replied.

We finally arrived at the gardens and it was amazing the flowers were all so beautiful. Instantly I thought of chloe and how she’d like all the bright pretty coloured flowers. We walked around for a few hours and looked at all the different kinds of flowers then we had a lunch and a chance to wonder around and look on our own.

The day seemed to fly past before we knew it we were all getting back on the bus and heading towards the school. The bus ride back seemed longer then the trip there. The kids seemed a little quieter than before.

“Did you have a nice day” Kiara asked.

“It was good. I’m going to take chloe there sometime” I replied.

“That sounds great I’m sure she’d love it”

“We still on for this afternoon” I asked Kiara.

“I don’t see why not. I’ve got nothing else to do unless you count homework but that can wait” she replied laughing.

Finally we got back to the school. I couldn’t wait to get off the bus I was a little freaked out by the way Andy was looking at me. He asked me out and I didn’t give him a straight answer his good looking kind and sweet but look at how my last relationship ended.

I guess I’m just a little worried about having my heart broken again. Am I willing to give him a shot or do I just say no? I didn’t realise he was standing beside me until I went to turn around but bumped into him instead.

“I’m sorry I didn’t know you were standing there” I apologized.

“That’s ok”

“I’ve been thinking about what you asked earlier”

“And”

I can’t believe I was about to say this but I need to move on I’ve told myself so many times that it’s time to move on.

“I’d like to hangout on the weekend but I have chloe so I can’t really do much” I said.

“Great we’ll work something out during the week. I don’t mind we’ll think of something we can do with her” he replied.

The bell rang and I said bye I caught up with Kiara at the front gate where we agreed to meet.

“So where are we meeting Veronica” asked Kiara.

“She’s coming to my place she wants to see chloe”

“No worries. Is it ok if we stop by my house so I can change” asked Kiara.

“Yeah that’s no problem” I replied as we walked towards her place.
