Chapter 13
Well what can I say? Chloe is now two months old. Garry and I have had a few hiccups over the past few months, but things seem to be getting better. He felt like he was too tied down and just needed some alone time. We didn’t break up; he just didn’t spend as much time here.
But things are going back to how they used to be. He’s here every day after work and it’s nearly time for school to start back up again. I’m a little scared and nervous to go back. After all kids can be mean, but I’m lucky I have amazing best friends who would do anything to help me and a have a wonderful boyfriend that always protects me.
“Morning sleepy,” I said as he woke up. It was about ten a.m. and I’ve been up for four hours already.
“Morning,” he said sounding sleepy. “Where’s Chloe?” he asked.
“In her room, she’s due for a bottle soon so you can do that one,” I told him as I got out of bed and went to take a shower and take my pill.
Mum put me on the pill after I had Chloe because none of us wanted another little baby to look after anytime soon.
“I’m never having another baby,” I said to my mum when she said I should go on the pill.
She didn’t say much; she just laughed at me.
I stood in the shower letting the water run over my body. I felt so tired. I felt like I couldn’t even keep my eyes open. I hopped out, got dried and dressed and went into my room, but Garry wasn’t in there. I sat on the end of my bed; he must be in the nursery with Chloe.
Garry’s phone went off so I picked it up and it was a text message from Abby. What the hell is she doing sending him a text? I opened the message but it was blank. ‘Oh she must have sent it to the wrong phone,’ I thought.
I walked into the nursery and I was right, Garry was sitting there holding Chloe feeding her. They looked so cute. Chloe definitely looks like her dad.
“Hey babe, you just got a message from Abby,” I said to him.
“What did it say?” he asked.
“Nothing, it was just a blank message. She must have sent it by accident,” I replied.
He agreed and continued feeding Chloe. I left them alone and went to make something for breakfast. I looked through the cupboards and fridge and finally decided to make pancakes with choc chips, it was Garry’s favorite.
I grabbed everything I needed and mixed it all together. As I was about to pour the last one into the pan Garry walked down, Chloe in his arms.
“Hey babe, I’ve got to go. Mum wants me to do a few things around the house, but I should be back in a few hours,” he said as he handed me Chloe.
“Do you want me to come? I’m sure your mum would like to see Chloe,” I asked.
“Nah it’s okay. Mums not home and I won’t be long I promise,” he said as he gave me a kiss goodbye.
Gosh this boy is doing my head in. It’s like he doesn’t want me to leave the house anymore. I decided to pack away the things from breakfast and take Chloe for a walk.
We ended up at the park; I can’t wait for Chloe to be able to run around with all the other children.
We just sat there. I didn’t realize how long we were there until Chloe started to cry and I realized she was due for a feed already. I started feeding her when a young lady started walking over.
“Hi, I’m Sally,” the girl said.
“Hi, I’m Tina,” I replied.
“I saw you sitting here by yourself and thought I’d come see if everything was okay,” Sally asked.
“I’m fine, really just wishing my daughter was old enough to run around and play with all the other children,” I answered her.
“I remember doing the exact same thing not long after I hand my son Noah,” said Sally.
“How old is your son?” I asked her.
“His two and a half this month,” Sally answered.
“How old is your little girl,” she asked me.
“She’s two months old,” I replied smiling at her.
She seemed like a really nice girl and she was young as well.
“Is it okay if I ask how old you were when you had your son?” I asked her. I didn’t expect her to answer but she did.
“I was fifteen and a half,” she said straight away. She wasn’t ashamed.
“I was nearly fifteen,” I told her so she didn’t have to ask.
“Does it get any easier?” I asked her.
“It does, but it doesn’t. The older they get the more they push you, but I’m sure every mum feels this same way,” she answered me before she said it time for her to get going.
I finished feeding Chloe and decided we should be getting home as well.
When we got home I was surprised to see that Garry still hadn’t come back, so I tried to call him but his phone was off. I left a message to see if he was coming back or not because mum and dad wouldn’t be home until late and I was locking the door.
After an hour I still hadn’t heard from him so I decided to go to bed. There was no point in waiting up.
I had the worst dream last night and I wish I didn’t dream it, I had a dream Garry was cheating on me, but I never got to actually see the girl.
It wasn’t true though because it was just a dream thank God. I know he loves us and would never hurt us because he knew he’d never get to see his daughter again.
So I didn’t let the dream bother me. I pushed it to the back of my mind so I’d forget about it.
I was going over to Garry’s this morning. His mum has been really busy, so I thought I’d take Chloe to visit.
I arrived at Garry’s place and his mum opened the door.
“Hey there beautiful girls, what a wonderful surprise. Did you come to see Garry, because he went out an hour ago,” she said.
“No. We came to see you, but I thought he’d be here. Do you know where he is?” I asked her.
“Sorry hon, I have no idea,” she replied.
We went inside and spoke about how big Chloe’s looking now. We spoke about little things and as the time ticked by I decided to message Garry.
“Hey babe, what are you doing?” I sent him.
It took him thirty minutes to finally reply. “Not doing much, woke up not long ago. I’m heading over soon. Give Chloe a kiss for me, see you soon. Love you xxx.”
Now I know something’s up because I’m sitting here in his lounge room and he hasn’t been here for hours. What the fuck has he been doing and where the hell was he?
I was so pissed off I messaged him back. “Just forget about it. I’m busy. I’ll talk to you later.” Then I turned my phone off, I said bye to his mum and put Chloe in her pram and went home to cry.
