Freddy's POV

As we arrived at school, I saw Summer taking a worried look at that Tori girl. She told us to keep walking because she had stuff to do. I was concerned, since our last meeting with Tori wasn't so great.
I put my stuff into my locker and went to look up for Summer. And I found her having a 'talk' with Tori. It didn't seemed to be a really nice talk, though. Let's just say there was a tear rolling down Summer's face. All I could hear was Tori calling Summer a nobody, and then a Cry Baby.
When she said it to Summer, I was filled up with anger. Oh, I'm gonna make her regret doing this to Summer.
"No, she's not! Leave her alone!" I screamed at her.
Summer turned around to face me, with puffy red eyes and a confused look.
"And why would I do this?" Tori teased.
"Because I'm telling you to. Are you dumb or something?" I answered, as the people around us laughted at what I said. That girl can do whatever she wants, but I will not allow anyone to make Summer cry!
"Who do you think you are?" Tori screamed at me.
"I'm Summer's friend. And who do you think YOU are?"
Tori stood there, speechless. She was probably shocked that someone talked back to her.
"Freddy, you don't have to do this..." Summer whispered to me, still crying.
"Yes, I do. You're my best friend. I'm not gonna let anyone treat you like this." I whispered back, and she gave me a weak smile.
"Excuse me!! What is going on here?" We heard Principal Mullins saying, coming to our direction.
"Principal Mullins," I started "Tori was calling Summer a nobody and a cry baby. So, when I got here, I started defending Sum."
"That's not true!" Tori said. "Summer has been bullying me for months, and now my boyfriend Freddy too."
"I'm not your boyfriend, and will never be!" I answered, really angry.
"Miss Hathaway?" Principal Mullins said. "What do you have to say? Who's telling the truth and who's lying?"
"F-Freddy's telling the truth, and Tori's lying." Summer said, a little nervous that all eyes were staring at her at the moment.
"Very well. Tori, to my office! Right now!" Principal Mullins said, really angry.
"This is not over, Loserberry!" Tori said her final words, before going to Principal Mullins's office.
We all stood quiet, until Summer spoke up:
"Thanks, Freddy." And then she hugged me.
I hugged back, letting her cry on my shoulder.
"Sum! Don't cry... It's okay. I'm not gonna let she do anything to you. I promise." I said, rubbing her back.
"T-Thank you..." She said, between sobs.
When she stopped crying, we pulled away.
"Sum... Do you mind telling me what really happened between you and Tori? I mean, the whole story?" I asked her.
"Sure. It all started about 2 years ago. We were really good friends, but she started having a crush on you. She thought that she would never have a chance with you, since you guys weren't close friends... But me and you have always been best friends. So she asked me to stop being your friend so she could have a chance. Of course, I said no. She got so angry at me... She started calling me a loser, and started bullying me. I didn't mind, though. Until that day at the park, when she made me go to the hospital. She started to get a lot more mean, probably because I was alone with you. Today, she had her revenge. It was the first time that she made me cry that hard. But then you came..." At that point, Summer was crying again, and I was at verge of crying too.
"I'm sorry, Sum..."
"It's okay. It's over now, thanks to you."
I hugged her again, feeling bad for her. She has passed for some hard times, and it was all because of our friendship.
The bell rang, and it was time to go to class.
Summer and I pulled away, I whiped away her last tears with my thumb, gave her a smile and we walked to class.
When we got there, we just rocked out until lunch time.
When I was going to the cafeteria with the rest of the gang, Trey stopped me.
"Hey, Freddy. I'm here to tell you that you're not invited to my party." What?!
"What?! Why?!"
"Because you apologised to Summer. I wanted her to regret not going out with my brother." He said, and just walked away.
I got my food and went to my usual table, where the rest of the gang was waiting for me.
"Hey, guys!" I said, as I sat down beside Summer and Lawrence.
"Hey!" Lawrence said. "I'm happy you're finally here. I wanted to ask you guys for a favor."
"Sure, what is it?" Tomika said.
"I asked Esme out."
"Really? That's awesome! I'm proud of you." Summer said.
"Thanks!" He answered. "But the thing is, I'm too nervous about it, and you guys really know how to calm me down. So, why don't we make it a triple date? Me and Esme, Tomika and Zack, Summer and Freddy."
"Oh. I think that's fine. It will be fun!" Zack said.
"Me too. I'm in!" I said.
"Then it's settled!" Summer said.
"Wait, when is it?" Tomika asked.
"Friday night, at the new restaurant." Lawrence answered.

-----------------time skip------------------

It was now the end of class, and I saw Summer by her locker, and decided to talk to her.
"Hey, Summer!"
"Hey, Freddy!"
"Are you excited for Friday night?" I asked.
"Yes!" She laughted. "I can't believe my first ever date is going to be a 'fake date'!"
"Yes, me too!"
We walked home together, since my house is just a block away from hers.
When we reached her house, she hugged me again, and whispered in my ear:
"Thank you again, Freddy. You're a really good friend. I don't know what I would do without you."
"I'd do anything for you, Sum." I whispered back.
We pulled away, she gave me a smile and entered her house.
I couldn't stop thinking about her situation with Tori and the bullying thing. I had to do something about it, I just didn't know what. But I was sure of something:
No one is gonna steal her beautiful smile from me.
