Daya's POV

I stepped back inside and walked up the steps. If they got out early, where is Aiden? He would have come home. Maybe he got a call about how dad's in the hospital.

I was snapped out of my thoughts when they front door slammed shut. Had I forgot to lock it? I got out of bed and walked downstairs. I was met face to face with my brother. I let out a sigh of relief because I thought it was a burgeler.

"Oh my god, Daya. I thought you where in trouble. When and why did you leave school?" He asked francticly.

"Ohm, about second period. And because I was having a bad day." I states while walking over to the couch and sitting down.

"Was it that Charolette girl?" Aiden sat down beside me on the couch.

"Yeah! She messed with the locket mom gave me. And made fun of me in front of the whole class."

"Daya. There are always going to be mean people in life. And when you walked off campus, you just gave her the satisfaction she wanted." I knew he was right. He always is.

"And that Ella girl asked me for your number, I hope you don't mind, but I gave it to her. She's a nice girl Day." I nodded in understatement. I was going to give it to her in homeroom because we don't have any classes together, but I left.

"I'm going to basketball try outs. You going to come?" I nodded.

Before we left I went into the bathroom to make sure I looked alright. I didn't look to bad.

We walked into the school's gym, and there where alot of people there.

I spotted someone in particular, Niall. He was with his usual group of friends. He hadn't yet noticed my attendence.

Someone else really stuck out to me. I could smell the hairspray from a whole way acrossed the gym. Unlike Niall, Charolette seemed to notice me.

"Don't let her get to you!" Aiden said before walking away.

"Easier said then done." I spoke quietly to myself.

Niall's POV

"Babe alert!" Harry said to the rest of us. I turned around to see who he was talking about. My eyes buldged out of my head when I saw who he was talking about.

"Daya?" I asked redirection myself to look at Harry. He nodded.

"She is hot!" Luke exclaimed.

"Well you can have her because I like her friend...Ella, I think." Harry spoke.

"Guys, she's not a prize to be won. She's a person." I said before walking off. But before I could get to far I heard Luke mermor "And a hot one at that." I rolled my eyes at his stupid words. I walked up the bleacher and sat beside Daya.

"Hey!" I said.

"Hi Niall."

"Are you alright?" I questioned.

"I'm fine, just...confused."

"About?"

"Why are you talking to me?" She asked.

"Why wouldn't I talk to you?" I asked with a little chuckle.

"Because you don't talk to any of the other nobodies."

"What's that supposed to mean?" I asked.

"Nevermind." She said before standing up and walking out of the gymnasium.
