"What!" Ryan screeched. I rolled away and covered my ears. "Why?"
I groaned "I need to get to hell and speak to Lucifer! He'll bring me back. Don't worry"
Ryan shook his head "I can't"
I glared at him "You do it tonight. First we need to find Veronica again. We need to talk"
"Tonight! I have a game" He moaned.
I rolled my eyes. "The devil wants to speak with me and you're worrying about football!"
He grinned and I frowned "A deal"
"A deal with a demon isn't a good idea. It's up there with a deal with the devil" I raised an eyebrow.
He chuckled "You come to the game and I'll kill you afterwards" His smile faded "That was a sentence I never thought I would say"
I shrugged "Fair enough. How long have we got?"
"About 2 hours" Ryan said and stood up.
I grinned "Just enough time to kill an angel"
****
"She's not here" Ryan groaned. "We've stood here for 20 minutes and its fucking freezing"
I glared at him. "She'll be here" We were in the alley I'd seen in my visions.
A figure stumbled out of the shadows. Ryan never had a chance to blink as I pounced. Her big white wings were hard to get around but I managed to catch her throat. She stared up at me, her golden eyes terrified. She had long golden hair and wore long white robes. The stereotypical angel.
I growled at her and she whimpered. "Is that a real angel?" Ryan asked.
I looked up at him. "Yeah. Want to have a closer look?" He shook his head and I laughed. I shifted into demon form and the angel burst into tears.
My eyes widened and I covered her mouth quickly "Shut the fuck up!" I hissed. "I'm going to take my hand away and you're not going to scream. You're going to tell me where Veronica is"
The angel nodded viciously and I pulled my hand away slowly. I stood away and she scrambled to her feet. Golden blood ran down her arm from where she'd scraped it and she looked a mess.
"I'm here" Veronica smirked. She stepped out and I smiled.
"Bitch" I greeted her.
She smiled and completely ignored the cowering angel "So it's you. Father would like to speak with you"
I raised an eyebrow "I have no interest in talking with God. All I want to know is what demon you are trying to kill and why"
She giggled "And you brought your pet with you?"
I growled "He's not a pet"
She dismissed me "Doesn't matter. I don't want the demon dead. But He does" She pointed at the sky "Not dead. Just back to where you belong. Demons don't belong on earth"
I put my hands on my hips. "So you want all demons dead?"
She laughed "Right now there is only one demon on earth. Other than Crow, you are the only one who's been here"
I frowned "But Lucifer said-"
Veronica smiled "Lucifer said a lot of things. That doesn't make them true" she frowned "Where did the pet go?"
She was about to find out. In seconds, she spluttered as golden blood came from her mouth. I frowned "Not fallen" A fallen angel's blood was silver. She fell to the ground and revealed Ryan standing behind her with a grin.
"I just killed an angel!" He shouted.
I laughed "Yeah!" He stepped over her body and handed me my knife now dripping in angel blood. I heard a whimper and turned to see the other angel running down the alley. I grinned "Not today" I threw the knife and hit my target. She fell to the ground and lay still.
"We're going to be late!" Ryan suddenly shouted and grabbed my arm. I reverted to human as we sprinted away.
We made it to the game on time. Somehow. I jumped up into the bleachers and rubbed my hands to heat them up.
I had never watched a football gane before. All I knew was that the ball had to go in the right goal. Even though I didn't know what made a good player, I knew enough to know that Ryan was shit.
It was stressing me out. When he finally got the ball in the final minutes I jumped up. The crowd went silent as he sprinted across the pitch. I swallowed. This was fun.
A boy the size of Britain started running towards him and I found myself biting my nails. Ryan kicked the ball and it went in. It went in!
Realisation dawned on the crowd and cheers started around the pitch. I squealed and jumped in the air clapping. Ryan looked just as shocked as everyone else as he looked up at me. He grinned and I gasped as the other boy barrelled into him.
I ran down onto the pitch faster than any human could and shoved him hard. He thought I was another player and dragged me down after him. Wrong move.
He pinned me beneath him and punched me with his big meaty fists. It wasn't until after that that he opened his eyes. "Oh my God" he whispered.
I blinked and felt the world spinning. His hand was the same size as my face! Once only one of him stoof above me I jumped up. My legs were still shaky but I managed to give him a good kick to the balls before I fell back onto the grass.
Ryan held me steady and I gripped ahold of him. "Shit" I hissed and grabbed my nose. "I think he broke my brain"
"Kick his fucking ass!" Victor screeched.
Brian decided to join in too "Fuck that! Use his head as a football!"
I groaned and shook my head. "Let's get you home" Ryan whispered and pulled me up. "Why are you so shaken up?"
"Not human" I muttered. I started to feel myself again "He's what I call a blob. Shapeshifters" Ryan nodded. "I still need to see Lucifer"
Ryan groaned "Fine. Let's get home first"
