“Good morning Girls!” Mum said flipping her famous chocolate chip pancakes, which by the way I never get her to make.
“Good morning mum.” Everyone said taking a seat at the table.
“Sleep well?”
“Yes girl Daphne, I was so tired from last night that I was out cold after eating my popcorn.” Jade knew my mum the longest and was on a first name basis with her, but weirdly never slept over. Mum wouldn’t mind what you call her as long as it wasn’t in a rude way.
“Oh, so you were dancing all the time and snagging numbers?”
“Yes, you know boys love me.”
“They would be foolish not to.” Mum said joking with her.
“Mum you forgot the syrup.”
“Oh! I knew I forgot something.”
Jade laughed, “I see where you get your forgetfulness from.”
I smiled, “But it’s cute.”
“With you, everything is cute.”
Mum brought back the syrup, “I got to leave now, have to take Cameron to an appointment. You’ll be okay right?
“Yeah. Where is Cameron?”
“In the shower, you know him, in there playing with the soap.”
Mum left to get him.
“These are good!” Simone said taking another one, “I got to make some of these tomorrow.”
“Me too.” Shane continued, “Pass the syrup Chris.”
“Wait.” Christina said making a smiley on her pancakes.
Shane snatched it, “Stop hogging it Chris.”
“But I just got it.” Christina got up and snatched it back and they started to fight over it.
Jade got up and snatched it from them, “Thank you,” she poured some on Shane’s and some more on Chris’s, “now you both have some and we’re all happy.” She poured some on her own and then placed the bottle in the middle of the table.
Simone was laughing as usual and couldn’t stop.
“You want any more syrup?” I asked her taking the bottle.
“No it would make it too sweet for me.”
“Okay.” I made a puddle out of the syrup on my plate.
“Cher what are you doing?”
“The syrup dries in the pancakes so I do this so I just have to cut off piece and dip it.”
“Oh.”
“So how did it get official with Brian?” Jade asked sternly.
I blushed, “Brian came to me yesterday morning, and made me pancakes.”
Everyone starting teasing me with silly noises and I shook my head.
“He’s a keeper,” Jade smiled, “I actually approve.”
Everyone nodded.
“Thanks guys.”
“It’s what friends are for.” Shane said sipping her juice.
I agreed. Someone knocked on the door.
“Aunty! I brought the horse to show you.”
Mum came out and opened the door, “He’s big.”
